sway bar is bad for the tires

I installed a 23mm sway bar a couple of months ago, I love how the car drives now, but I've noticed that the tires started to peel off pieces, like skin flakes. I think its because I take turns about 50% faster now.

ah. So the driver is bad for the tires -- not the sway bar. I have the same problem. Had me worried there for just a second. :biggrin: :burnrubber:

Driver or not, car allows for faster turns now, but tires become the weak link. I still have stock tires, they are a harder compound tires but ok for now. When they wear off if I put softer tires on would they do better in terms of peeling off flakes?

u need a Big Brake kit ! to slow you down on the corner .

yea the OEM tires are a softer compound and don't last very long, mine wore out in under 25k miles. partially because the place i used to live had 180 degree turn to get in, it was fun :D

Sounds like you are "chunking" your tires. Basically overheating the tread and it comes off in chunks/flakes. This is why performance tires have less tread depth than all-seasons. End of the day, anything you do to reduce the chunking (tire pressure, neg. camber, better tires, etc) will make the car corner faster.... and wear tires faster! If you are worried about tire life, slow down.

Back before I ever heard the term drifting (early 90's), I used to go through a bunch of tires on a hot rodded camaro z28.....from brand new to belts showing in about a month. I had lots of fun!

Its all depend on what rate of tire you get and how you drive it. I got Pirelli P4 all season and it last me for long time. High speed and hard corner no problem. I got 5 bars in the rear. No body roll at all.
