Transport Canada proposed to change the 15 years or older import vehicle rule to 25 years!

They say that RHD cars are not safe and they are bad polluters!

This is uber gay and crushes my dream in ever owning a tt supra.. :(

Import for "show" reasons. I doubt they'd bitch at you for saying you want to import for car shows and not normal driving (which you can do after haha or maybe midnight strolls.)

Canada never got the MkIV Supra TT? I never knew that. You aren't missing much anyway, they handle like crap.

Agreed. Id much rather have a FD Rx7 or a Silvia.

I'd love to have a nice FD, upgrade the exterior to 99+ spec. That car is timeless. Too bad the reliability is usually pretty sketchy.

Like a boat. Yes, it is sad to say that I have yet to see a FD thats hasnt had its engine replaced at least once. Get you an FD Rx7 and do a 20B swap on it, with a single turbo.

I wouldn't say like crap- it would certainly fare better than most cars, however, compared to "other" competing cars- i.e., the RX-7 and NSX- the Supra falls FAR short. You could dump thousands into a Supra in just suspension work, and it would handle a little better than a stock RX-7, and still not touch the NSX.

It probably would have been more accurate to call the Supra a pig.

You're right, a lot of it has to do with the standard you are measuring it against. For me it was my 94 Miata with sticky tires. Not fair I suppose.

It was a little faster though...

Dang, I wish I had a chance to drive those cars. Really wish I owned one of them at least.

I have wanted a Silvia for years. S13 Silvia would rule.

Relax Derrick, the current legislation is still for 15 years or older, and the above is only a proposition.

Government amendments and legislation normally takes 6 months to a year for non-pressing issues like these, so you may be able to get the TT Supra you are after.

I know for sure I'll be getting mine on a vessel leaving Japan during the second week of December 2007 so that it will enter Canadian waters during 2008, effectively making it a 15 year old vehicle which would be legal for import, as per the current legislation.
