I was reading through old threads and people talked about running no muffler. Seems like quite a few of those people stated the Yaris sounds pretty good actually without the "pumpkin" muffler (as long as your running stock everything else). Is there any downsides to this besides being a bit on the louder side of things? How hard is it to take off the muffler aside from the two bolts that connect it to the midpipe?

^ How about poking your head under there and looking?
There are two rubber hangers as I recall, plus the two bolts. No downside.
Pretty sure those who deleted added a pipe - you don't want your exhaust ending under the car.

ROFL I know, I was going to poke my head under there this morning but waiting for the sun to heat things up a little (it's only like 28 over here in Michigan ;)...any suggestions on adding a pipe? I wonder if I could run a slightly longer piece that had a enlarged flange to fit over the midpipe, then just use a metal clamp to keep it on tight. Do you know what size bolts those two are that need to come off?

I remember 14mm but could be wrong on the bolts.
A metal clamp on a metal pipe? hmmm.

Thanks Garm...I don't have a welder or pipe bender so I'm trying to figure out my options for adding a pipe, I'm not really sure

Could you not use the same pipe size and and mate the mid pipe and new pipe with some kind of union coupling? Something similar to those silicone boost couplings but that can withstand high temps. I don't know if that would leak but outside of having both ends flanged or welded that's the best I can come up with. You would wanna make sure the pipe is very securely mounted, though. Not sure the best way to hang it to those rubber things without some welding also.

Removal = releasing two bolts at the junction and unhooking from two hangers.
Go to a muffler shop and have a replica pipe (without pumpkin) created and installed.
If it sounds distasteful you can just switch back yourself without to much sacrificed.
