02 plate Yaris digital speedo keeps changing units MPH/KMPH

Does anyone know why this may be happening. My 02 plate Yaris keeps switching between KMPH and MPH on the digital display. Sometimes after switching off the engine and other times while driving.

Has anyone else seen this or know what could be the cause? I'm reluctant to take it into a garage without knowing more of what could be the cause. Garages tend to try and get you to replace some huge part that costs a fortune.

Any help would be appreciated.

It is likely that the carbonized rubber contacts on the switch that you press to switch that vintage of digital cluster between KM and Mile have some deposits on them. The fix would be to disassemble the cluster and clean them and their contact pads on the circuit board with a little contact cleaner.
