Spyder Projector Headlights

Has anyone had an experience with these projectors?

After combing threads/posts I haven't found anyone saying that they have specifically tried these out.
These are for the '07 Yaris Sedan, not hatchback.

Projectors like these typically have less light output than stock headlights, only benefit to projectors would be with true hid lights

I sell them, but I don't have them on my car, so I haven't tested output myself. With a stronger bulb they might be ok.

not sure about on our car, but I have a buddy that has them on his Cobalt and he likes them. IIRC he did also fiddle with them to upgrade the bulbs to get better output.

Thanks for the input, I'm definitely considering getting HID's to increase the output on these if I decide to go with em.

Still haven't managed to find any videos or pictures of them aside from on their installation video which doesn't show them installed and lit up.

Are there a set of projector headlights (preferably with halos), that you would recommend that I would be able to set HID's into without running the risk of melting the projector bowls?

I'm trying to find the best alternative to retrofitting, because I really don't have the expertise to be taking on a job like that :laugh: ...

You basically bolt these on, and the output on these are really good.

Do you have acura or lexus headlights available inthe scrapyard? If so, you might want to look into using those for your retrofit. They use d2s bulbs IIRC. Here in manila a lot of DIYers use such projectors for their retrofit. HTH

Depending on which Lexus projector, the mini H1 is actually better. The mini H1 is slightly better than the TL projector imo. I think only the FX projecotrs are better than the mini H1.

All in all - the H1 is an excellent projector for a retrofit. MUCH better than any of the eBay projector headlights you can buy. FX is harder to retrofit - Did the FX retrofit on my 4Runner. Usually requiring some cutting of the headlight where the MINI D2S and H1 are a straight 'drop-in'.

I'm using the H1 in my retrofit over the Popular D2S because I like the output and beam pattern better.

Yeah, the mini D2S' output and spread is no where as good as the mini H1. I'm not happy with my G1 bolt ons, seems to be like the output and spread as that eBay one you posted, so I'll either be getting the mini H1 in the future, or if I have time, going with one of the FX projectors.

If you don't mind doing fully retrofit, the Lexus 460 bixenon is one of the brightest and widest angle available on the market right now . The only thing is the dimension that a little too big for most .

And those are actually one that'll be fine using the 55w and up bulbs n ballast, since the bowl is large enough to dissipate heat.

So, if I am seeing this correctly, it is a kit, so I would be doing my own retrofitting with this. I really am not proficient in working with cars, and doing a retrofit seems out of my league at this point.
On this site will they do the retrofitting for you and ship it in the housing, ready to go, or is this as I'm seeing it - a kit?

Interesting. Personally I will probably go with the 35w, as I had a bad experience in the past with going with too high of wattage in the past on HID's.

Yes, this is a kit. But it's a bolt on kit. You basically just have to open your headlight (take off the lens from the headlight), remove that middle piece (the piece the shields the front of the light bulb and helps reduce glare), bolt on the projector, aim to make sure the cut off is horizontal, and tighten. Then put the headlight lens back on.

Phew, well I'm going to look into seeing if I can get a buddy to help me out with a job like this. Additionally, if I go through with it, I will try and take pictures of the process for others to check out.

I'd probably end up going all in and painting the reflector bowls as well, I dig that blacked look :thumbsup:.

From what I read, the XB35 are just better quality bulbs. Apparently brighter and more true to the color temp. This is up to you if you want to spend a little more (the XB35 cost 70 bucks if purchased outside the kit). I'd suggest 5000k color temp as well.

CCFL is what you generally see on BMW's (not the yellow halos). Not sure what the XB LED is. Might be brighter, I'm assuming. CCFL's are pretty bright already tho.

Yeah, it'd be nice. If you can, replace all the OEM sealant with a nice, not too thick layer of this butyl tape sealant.

The mini gattling gun should work. It's the style used in the G1 bolt on projectors (what I have) and what justdidit is using in his Prius. I'm not sure if the larger shrouds will need some modifying to fit.

Yup xb is good bulbs , even though the morimotos is actually similar to the Phillips 85122+. I use 5000K , since Its plain white but still a little yellow on the ground ... It really helps during raining days :) .

As for the halos, xb is a lot brighter than the ccfl ... And it comes in different sizes .

Those are Andrew's (trs crew) Honda fit , using those Lexus ls460 bix projectors and xb rings .

I recently swapped out my hids for 90/100 halogens with a relay pack. The light output is amazing. No need to do anything else. Stock housings produce an excellent and effecient beam pattern with outstanding cutoff on low beams and highbeams that will blow your eye brows off.

I have the spyder projector headlights for my sedan and I havent had a problem with them. What I want to know is, if i change the stock bulbs for HID, would that be a problem or is it safe?

I just recently purchased the spyder headlights for the Yaris 07 Sedan too and installed HIDs in them last night... it's a b*tch trying to aim them right tho since there isn't much space behind the headlight to reach the L/R adjustment screw...

I would like to do the Morimoro 3-five retrofit but didn't wanna spend that much on it yet plus, I'm scared of doing the retrofit too... maybe in the near future tho...
