Does anyone know where to get a roof splitter for a Yaris. The ones that evos have on their rear windshield.

It gave me like .xx more mpg. I did see triangular clearings forming on my back window when there was condensation on it. Didn't even have to use my rear defrosters that much. Since I took them off, no more triangular clearings and much more rear defroster usage. Of note, using the rear defroster kicks on the AC, so you use more gas.

You can run the rear defrosters with the AC/vents totally off. It's just a set of wires running through the rear window glass that has nothing to do with the AC at all (short of the button being with the AC/vent controls).

Now the front defroster is a totally different story, since it's conditioned air being blown on the windshield to defog/defrost it, which does use the AC...



Cool that those little splitters helped keep the windows clear though...

^ I've always associated a drop in mpg with rear defroster usage to the AC being turned on. Could have sworn I also read that either here on the forums, or in the manual. Could be wrong tho. I did look it up, and whether or not the rear defroster turns on the AC, it will still use more gas as it's putting more load on the alternator (which is also why I think my idle goes up when the rear defroster is on, which also made me think my AC compressor turned on).

I do know that on my friend's Silverado, even just having the air on recirculating automatically turns on the AC. Why? I have no clue, and it's pretty stupid imo. Although I would assume it's to dehumidify the recirculating air, which would help prevent the windows fogging up???

Can't seem to find that statement here on the forums, so I'm going to say that I've been thinking wrong about associating the rear defroster with the AC compressor. Must be the alternator load then. I've adding some additional grounding, but have yet to add to the alternator positive. I see an improvement in voltage with my headlights on (prior to adding the grounding it was 13.8-13.9v, now it's 14.0-14.1v). I haven't had the need to use my rear defrosters very much, so I'm not sure if I'll still experience that mpg drop that I did in the past.

LT Noogie ran some and had some video footage somewhere. I'm not gonna look for it since I don't plan on running them.

Per my chat with him, there was a difference in aiding the "aero" part of things. I'm not sure if he metioned MPGs
