View Full Version : Wheels spin while in neutral

Hey everyone, I observed the strangest thing today. I was doing an oil change and had the front jacked up. After finishing the change, I started up the car to let the oil circulate and both front wheels started spinning while my car was in neutral!

I can easily stop the spin with my hand/fingers but it will start spinning again when I let go off the wheel. It is related to engine speed and will rotate faster if I blip the throttle. Depressing the clutch stops the spin as expected.

Since the car is not in gear, how is it spinning? Anyone has any ideas?

Thanks

even though its in neutral, when the clutch is not engaged the input shaft is spinning, its just because there is some light resistance between parts inside the trans. perfectly normal

perfectly normal, including the the clutch part--it should actually stop it from spinning. the spinning is, correct, a light resistance.

Thanks everyone for the info. Never saw that happening on my other cars before.
