Decision to lower more?

Ok, here are pics of my ride right now with Eibach Pro springs and Tokico reds on full hard running 16x7 rims and 205/50/16 Kumho tires.

I have a sense that the Tokico reds on almost full hard keep the springs from compressing as much as they would if the struts/shocks were on a softer setting, but I am not sure they would drop much more so I need to try a much softer setting and see if the "stance" is lower or not.

Right now, the space from top of the tire to the edge of the wheel well on front and rear is 1.5"...I would like more like 1/2" inch total.

If setting the struts/shocks on a softer setting will not lower it much more, then what springs would you suggest I need front and ear seeing the current setup in these pics to put the fenders about 1/2 inch above the tire? Tanabe DF210s?

I think it looks great! I would not lower any more.

And the shocks have no effect on ride height.

I got Tein basis coilover. I lower the front about inch an half and I could lower half inch more to close the gap between fender and tire. The rear I lower it just touch the rear fender. I will post some pictures soon.

If you want to adjust the height, you should go for coilover.

Can you adjust your height and dampening with your coilover?

^ Tein street basis is height only, not damping. Megan/Cusco/H&R/etc. allow damping adjustment also.

Ok I have decided to lower more. Anyone with springs suggestion? I am not getting coilovers at this time so just springs suggestions please.

My goal is to close the front and rear gaps to approx. 1/2 inch each. Right now they are about 1 1/2 inch.

Garm, thanks. So if I need about 1" more drop, evenly, which would do it at the lowest cost. You already know I can adjust dampening with the Tok reds.

I've been struggling with the decision to lower more for a while also. Been running NF210s but I'd like to see the car lower. I just worry about scrubbing.

I am not concerned about lowering more because I can just stiffen the Tok reds to the point they don't allow any spring compression of any significance.

Now, I would drive more than a day like that because everything else has to absorb the road changes.

I think if I have 1/2" wheel gap, I can continue to stiffen the ride till rubbing is very minimal.

Lower than 1/2" and my front will easily rub as the fender is right at the tire edge; rear, I could lower more, but I like them with almost the exact same wheel gap and is a sign of thinking about it vs just throwing on some springs.

Leave your car alone! Screw looking bad ass and having your car slammed down to the ground. The ride fricken sucks, and you have to drive your car like you are scared of every dip and bump in the road.Why all of that just to look hard?My biggest mistake was getting coilovers; I never could be happy with one setting. Either the ride is too high,too low,too stiff, or never right period. You have a good set up. Those springs and shocks alone are just about the same price as a set of ok coilovers. Your car may not look as shocking as one that is slammed or hellaflush, but I bet its more fun to drive.

Hey, I do really appreciate the honest thoughts.

I have thought of this and this is why I do not plan to slam it. I am happy with some wheel gap, but I know that I can have a comfortable ride and still drop another inch.

As well, if I were in a town, or had a regular drive schedule over bad roads and rough territory, I wouldn't do it. Additionally, I am keeping the stock springs, most likely, and could go back anytime if things just didn't work out.

Now...those that go for the "penny-off-the-ground" frame drop, that is way too much for me and they are welcome to it and I agree it cannot be very comfortable.

So, I have elected to go with DF210's to keep the drop even and another 1/2 to inch.

Hey, just noticed your location...guess I am tired.

What is the status on the Teins? Do they lower more than DFs? MI shows they drop 1.9", but I am not sure if that is front and back. I think the DFs will get me there enough.

Why did you get the Tein's?

I think the DF210's are a bit firmer than the Teins, and the Teins go just a bit lower and are a little softer. More or less comparable, really. That's been my experience after a few installs.

Yeah they drop close to 2 inches front and back and are pretty comfortable ride.
I was running 18x7.5s 45mm offset with 215/35/18s lol and those springs with no rub.

Just installed the DF210s on the rear tonight (doing fronts Saturday) and boy are they perfect! I look forward to the fronts and I think I will be done.

Attached a photo of the rear clearance, which is about none from the top of the tire to the top of the outer fender, although it looks like there is clearance on the outside.

I noticed on the rears that the DF210s are lighter than the Eibach pros significantly, almost by half! That is a good advantage as well.

I believe you just spent about less than hour to get the rear done. About an another inch drop looks better. Just about half an inch above the tire is good. Leave a little gap for not touching the quarter panel.
