Best "lifters" for hatchback...want improvement

You know the "lifters" on a hatchback that keep the hatch open while doin' stuff back there?

Mine are losing their ability to hold the hatch open and I was curious where to get some good ones that will hold it well, open faster (more lifting power) and last longer.

Thoughts?

I'm not sure if the 08 model is the same as the 07 HB, but I purchased these gas struts from ebay - work like a charm!

Are you in San Antonio? I ask because we saw a hatch that looked just like yours on Bandera Road about an hour or so ago, I think it was at the Sonic just past Grissom...

My teenage son and I were in my Jeep but we always play "Slug Yaris" (like "Slug Bug," but for Yaris hatchbacks), so I tend to remember seeing them...

Somewhere on here is a large-ish thread on replacement hatch struts. I believe CTScott has recommended a good replacement that is not too stiff. A common complaint with some replacements tried is that they are just too stiff.

Gotta be carefull as you don't want this to happen (even if it was done with OEM struts).

The biggest thing to look for is ones that are dampened. The cheap ebay ones that I initially experimented with were not, and they really bounced the hatch at the top of travel. As for lift strength, 90 lbs, like the ones that Myztic posted the link to are good. If you added sound deadening material to the hatch, then you would want to go up to 100 lb lift ones.

Sorry, but I am in Cypress, just outside Houston, TX. I have been to SA a few times, but not recently. There are a lot of gray Yaris's around.

I do know that people who have purchased lifts for other cars say that they are top quality so, I have to assume the Yaris supports are great also.

every time i see this title i think it is referring to hydraulic or roller lifters in the engine.
