I heard that JDM spec cars like the Skyline couldn't use the headlights and tailights that come from Japan. A new recent bylaw in BC prohibits this?
If this is the case, it means I couldn't install JDM lights on my Yaris?

not legally, same as in the US, it is because of the lack of reflectors

I'll never understand that Rule...
Where are the Reflectors on this car?

as long as you have any kind of reflectors on the side of the car...
there's a reason why the echo hatchback has extra side markers on the front bumper in canada...

They don't have to be part of the taillights, they just need to be visible from the side of the car.

There is no law saying they have to be part of the lamp themselves, to make JDM lamps legal you would have to add reflectors to the rear and sides of your vehicle, and would look kinda tacky

The JDM RS has reflector built-in the bumper. But i don't think it fits... right?

I think the cops have bigger worries on their hands!

um, no I really don't think they do, they eat this kind of shit up, they love pulling people over for tint and lighting and mufflers and stereo noise and etc

well, i see that cops stop in FRONT when they pull someone over in ONT...
in Qc, they stop behind. i think it's safer behind, at least, for the citizen. and the cops always park slightly unaligned. so if anyone hit the cop car, it's not going to hurt the citizen that much.

they do the same here park behind but we have to keep the front one:iono: that's too bad because some bodykit doesnt have a place for the front plate....weird that some old freaking ugly cars dosent have the front one and neve rget pulled over.....:eyebulge:

Don't forget, How many JDM tails around anyways? I don't think cops know what tails are OEM, or JDM, or even there needs to be reflectors!

I talked to some mechanics about this who do tail light conversions for the JDM cars that are brought to Canada. They've had customers who have been caught and fined. However most of these cars are gray market cars like the Skylines etc.

I personally won't worry to much. My toy doesn't have a stereo you hear a mile away, doesn't leave patches when I pop the clutch, will never see a race (unless a fit or aveo pisses me off), and has a late 30's dad driving it. Not the kind of car or demographic cops hit on!!! at least here in the GTA

Yes, I'm going JDM lights, but after all the other mods like the suspension goodies, headers and stuff to satisfy my thirst during my mid life crisis. I was never a Porsche or BMW guy, I was into 510's and 2002's and old Alfa's. This Yaris reminds me of those days and I'm having fun. My son loves the car and he's hoping he'll get it next year....not. He'll get the old Benz diesel.
