Looking for some advice on a good set of 6.5" component speakers for the front of my HB
I would like to spend less $160 unless you convince me that spending more will be worth the money in the sound.
I do know that an external Amp will be recommended and am open to suggestions for that as well to get the most out of my speakers.
The speakers will be going in when I do some sound deadening in the car so It should make for a huge difference hopefully.

You can get a couple of good coaxial speakers and an amp for $160
Why would you like component speakers if you are just adding an amp?

To add to what D is saying, what is around your area in the way of brands and shops?

^ Coaxials in oem locations will not solve the problems in the high and mid range.
Couple ideas

These folks are a bit above the budget but are worth every penny

What problem, there is no problem, he just needs an upgrade with a budget.
Better if he can get it with an amp within the budget.
look at it this way... it will sound better
2 new speakers + amp than
2 new components with no amp.

Upgrade your headunit first.
If you don't have experience with setting up speakers and amps don't spend 200 dollars on speakers. Chances are this is going to be a learning experience and with an amp connected to 6.5's you'll have them bar b que'd in a month. Then you'll be left with a 200 dollar set of paper weights.
If you are starting out. (Disregard if you're a pro )
Headunit first ( there goes your $160 budget )
2 channel amp for only the front speakers
4 channel to replace all 4 speakers.
50 watts RMS should be enough. $100.
You can find an okay beginner set of speakers for $60 or less
Amp kit $30
If you want to run speakers off your headunit you will be pushing a whopping 20 watts of more than likely fully clipped power to you speakers which can handle about 50 watts RMS at which point you'll more than likely blow the speakers and we'll get into a heated discussion that underpowering speakers overheats them and melts the coils .
So highly recommend. Get an amp.

Oops I forgot to say that I have a Kenwood DNX7140 and currently have some 3 way cheaper speakers that were probably $70 a few years ago in the front locations. Hence why I am looking at getting components because I am not happy with the imaging of the stock locations nor am I happy with the tinny sound of these speakers.
I might eventually get an 8" sub to put in a sealed box somewhere in the car.
As for what is around me I have no idea as I am in central Illinois and have never heard of any audio places around here.

For what it's worth, my pair of Pioneer 2-way 6.5" has lasted 6+ months on the stock head unit. I don't normally turn it up past 35, depending on the level of the recording, but it's also rarely below 25. I'm much happier with them than the stock set.

I'll second the Polk Audio DB6501 speakers. Thats what I have in my car and like them alot! Do yourself a favor though and get some speaker wedges too to aim them up a bit...like toward the shifter. Makes a very noticeable difference.
I also would mount the tweeter in the windshield post. For ease of install, I put mine in the tranglular mirror section above the door (sedan) and the tweeter is a little overwhelming unless you turn the crossover down 3db. You get better imaging in the posts too. once i get new mirror covers I am going to move mine to the post also.

Mine only had to live a week with stock wiring, then it went to shielded 12 gauge and 60rms/channel

No need to spend a lot, these will play loud and clear, with good bass. I've got them in my HB front and rear.
You'll need to remove the stock plastic mount and add spacers.

Uber did you read the whole thread?
Cause I already ordered speakers and already had a set of speakers about like those and am no longer happy with them.

I Imagine that they are simply a replacement if you destroy a stock speaker for some reason

No, just putting out my findings, that one can get good sound for cheap.
I've got $4k. in my land cruiser system(all off Ebay), and it sounds fantastic!
But my <$300. Yaris system sounds 75% as good.
Glad you got it sorted out.

Good choice going with neo magnets, your windows will thank you.
Also, If you look at the back speaker holes, there's is room for a shallow mount 8" woofer on each side. You'll need to do a little fab work, but I measure it out, and it will fit.
I like Earthquake SWS, but there's a ton of shallows out there.

And if you put that 4k system into your Yaris, you'd be needing ear replacement surgery really quick.
Just looking at some sub packages, 4000 watts. I couldn't imagine surviving that much power in a Yaris.

Crunch, Autotek, Hifonics and Mb Quart are all the same company. I've used there stuff and would use it again without hesitation. But not everything they put out is great. I do research and go from there.
The Powerbass i posted will sound pretty damn good.
Others may say it's cheap bs. Set properly they'll do the job and not break the bank doing it.
Cadence is another good budget brand.
So is Crescendo. Look around on some of the audio forums and you'll see these brands.

My land cruiser system is only 900 watts RMS. and only consist of 8 speakers.
It's a SQ system, not an SPL.

still that Land Cruiser is a behemoth. That is enough power to fill the area?

I was going to say, if you ever want to troubleshoot with someone who knows something about sound, the current Sbring Break Nationals SQ champ in the Pro class lives in Henning. He also used to drive (and compete) with a Yaris.
If you want, I can get you two together.
