I've only seen two lift backs ever on the road. I'm a service tech and I drive a service van all day and I've only seen 2 lbs? I'm in one of the major cities in ohio, cleveland, and there are no yarii around!:frown: alot of sedans though:smile:

HAHA!

I've seen quite a few. There are a few in Hudson... a blue sedan, a flint mica sedan and a red liftback to name a few. I've probably seen a dozen now.

lol ouch...

ive never done the car show thing (audio show, plenty), and havent really looked over the classes. Seems different almost every show.

IMO, I'd do a yaris/fit/versa etc class... now THAT would get interesting :headbang:

yep x2... I'd never have the $ to build an extreme show car... and if I did, I'm not sure thats where I'd spend it lol.

Although I've always been in the audio section... I've been to a few import style/carl casper shows as both spectator and competitor. Its much better to compete, even if you have no chance of winning, just to be part of the event. Everytime I spectate, I just wish my car was there.

My sedan will be all stock for a while but I would love to have a meet somewhere to see what modifications you guys have made to yours. I might learn a few things. What would be a good central location for all Ohioans. Someone earlier in this thread or another thread mentioned Summit Racing in Tallmadge, Ohio. Although, I think they were talking about the Super Summit and the need to have a section for Yaris owners.

I live in Stow Ohio. I own 2 2007 3 door hatch backs. I bought the first new. I traded in a 1994 Ford Escort Wagon. After driving my Yaris for a year, I traded in a 1998 Ford Ranger, for a used 2007 3 door hatch back. Since I dislike red, I had Macco repaint my second Yaris, you guessed it, Meteoritic Metallic. ;) I have mounted a after market Garmin navigation system behind the steering wheel on both Yarises. I took photos of both navigation systems as seen from the driver's wheel and posted the photos on the web.

I would be interested in a Yaris meet in Ohio.

I did research on how much gasoline I save driving my Yarises over driving a Ford Escort or the Ford Ranger. I drove 16,000 miles last year. Using the EPA web site, I save 260 dollars a year over driving the Escort, and save 780 dollars of gas each year over driving the Ranger. And I reduced my carbon foot print by 4.55 tons of carbon a year.

33OH
07-02-2009, 08:17 AM
Welcome! I've been to Stow a few times, I'm probably about an hour south of you.

ellenbetty
07-03-2009, 02:07 PM
I seen a few other Yarises in Stow, blue 3 door lift back is the one that sticks to my mind. It will be interesting to see how Toyota converts the Yaris into a hybrid. I hope that Toyota makes the Yaris hybrid a mild hybrid, something affordable. It's a shame that I am broke buying 2 Yarises. I would have bought just one Yaris liftback mild hybrid instead.

I would like to have my 2 Yarises painted with stripes and lettering to look like Star Trek shuttle craft. Then get custom tags. It will take a while to pay off having my second Yaris painted Meteoritic Metallic. Buying my second used 2007 Yaris 3 door liftback eats up most of my spending money.

Welcome, I've been trying to get a Yariswold get-together around for this summer

ellenbetty

You have two of them?

I bought my first Yaris 3 door liftback new in March of 2007.

When my brother died, he left his Ford Ranger to my Mom. I bought the Ranger from my Mom. I drove the Ranger for a year to give my Mom time to adjust to my brother's death. I got tired of driving the Ranger. The Ranger is a gas guzzler. The Ranger is hard to park.

I decided to trade in the Ranger for a second Yaris 3 door liftback. I searched the Internet. I found a local Ford dealer with a used 2007 Yaris with automatic.

The second Yaris was red. So I had Macco repaint the Yaris meteoric metallic. Driving 2 Yarises (one at a time lol) is my way of getting the gas guzzling Ranger off the road (at least for a few weeks) and getting a fuel economical Yaris back on the road.

Just picked up my new 2010 3 door liftback on Saturday! I took it through Amish country for a bit of a breakin and loved every minute of it!

It took about 3 weeks for the dealer to get it in, but it was worth the wait. The only disappointment that I have is the lack of a "VSC off" button. But that's a minor quibble...

See you all on the road!

Have had my Yaris for a year and a half now. Just had the idea to sign up for a forum to find out what other owners are doing. Posted this same pic on Member's rides thread:

Looking to add the cruise control and some pedals next.

I'm back!!! lol Ok, I'm sure no one remembers me I haven't posted here much, and it's been a while. I bought a Yaris back in 2007 with the intent on my (now ex) girlfriend having it. It was Bayou Blue and an Automatic. Didn't care for the combination for myself really. I technically still own the car since it's still in my name, but it's basically hers.

Anywho, I picked up my own Yaris last night. Found a great deal on a really nice 2009 Black Sand Pearl 3dr Liftback. Full power, cruise, 5 spd. Even came with a really nice set of 17 inch Konig Bump wheels. I forgot how fun they were to drive, I like the adjustable rear seat that my 07 didn't have. Most importantly, I LOVE the 5spd version!

Welcome! :w00t:

Hey, thanks! By the way, I'm surprised to see so many people here from small towns in Ohio. I had to look up a lot of these places. I bought my Yaris brand new in the spring of 2009. It's my first and only car and ever, and I'm going to have it for a long, long time. And I mean that. As of this writing, it's got just under 10,000 miles on the odometer. So yes, I'm a Yaris owner, but I'm not much of a Yaris driver. I guess that's what happens when you don't go on roadtrips.

33OH
06-17-2011, 08:14 AM
^ Yeah, I live in a town of about 20,000 people. Little place called Dover. I visit Columbus/Cleveland/Pittsburgh often though.

And I'm creeping up on 90K miles, but I drive 110 miles/day to work and back so it's understandable. :)

Wow! And I live ten miles from work, and to me, that's too far! Everyone has their own level of tolerances when it comes to commuting, though. Soon I'll be moving, and I'll only be 2.5 miles from work downtown. And I'll be taking the bus, since my bus passes will be free to me, paid by my employer. So, pretty soon, the Yaris will only be used once a week for grocery getting, and I'll no longer use it for commuting. So I think I'm going to have my Yaris forever, at the rate I'll be driving soon.

When part of Columbus do you typically visit?

33OH
06-20-2011, 07:54 AM
Usually the campus area, around 11th Street, or Gahanna. Have friends and family in both places.

Hamster
06-26-2011, 06:05 PM
That's cool! I'm not too familiar with Gahanna, though. I know Northwest Columbus (Hilliard, Dublin) best. I'll soon be moving to the Grandview area....right around Fifth Ave/Third Ave. Don't expect to see my Yaris on the streets, though....My new rental comes with a garage. And thank goodness for that. I forgot to mention, I'm moving in part because my lovely upstanding neighbors keyed up the driver's side of my car. I absolutely had to move to someplace with a garage so that nobody could hurt my baby again. After a long wait, I can now finally get damaged panels refinished/repainted. Glad I have comprehensive insurance, but I'm still going to be out my deductible.

P.S. Never live in an apartment complex no matter how nice. I found this out the hard way. Nothing but trash who doesn't respect your stuff. I don't know what the point is of keying, of all things, a Yaris.

33OH
06-27-2011, 11:00 AM
^ This is why I live in a small town and commute. I don't have to worry about things like that, hell we leave our doors unlocked 3/4 of the time.

But sorry to hear about it! Not cool when people can't learn to respect each other and their property. =/

Forgot to mention, I'm a female. It's the couple that lives next to me who keyed up the Yaris. I mean, I know it was them, but I can't prove it. I'm fairly certain that it was the dumb guy. Yeah, that's a real manly thing to do....Vandalize a girl's subcompact for no reason. Those two are nothing but worthless losers. They apparently graduated from OSU (based on all the alumni stickers they have on their Hondas), but they're working as bartenders. As a result, they come home in the middle of the night, and that's when my car was attacked. They're complete cowards, since they keyed my car when everyone else was sleeping. The only tiny bit of consolation I have is that I'm better off than them, money-wise and career-wise.

I sure wish I could live far outside the city. But I just don't have the patience to commute that far! Do the country roads you drive on get real nasty in the winter? If so, how does the Yaris hold up?

33OH
06-28-2011, 07:49 AM
Aw, that is very lame then, especially since you're a female. And I'm glad you're taking the high road on it and just leaving the situation by moving out. As much as it hurts me to say it because I love cars, "it's just a car."

I use snow tires in the winter, but if I didn't commute over 100 miles per day I wouldn't need to as it handles pretty good in the winter. The roads do get pretty nasty, but I do live inside city limits, actually a few blocks from downtown, just not in a big city.

Hamster
06-28-2011, 05:44 PM
Might be just a car, but it's still the most expensive thing that I own. No interest in buying a house....I attempted that earlier this year, and then I was stunned how everyone (banks, realtors, etc.) were trying to rip me off. They just presumed that I was too stupid to figure out what they were doing. Screw that, I'll stick to renting. By the way, I'm not moving just because of the car. When the losers come home at night, they talk and make a lot of noise outside. Even though my townhouse has two bedrooms, I'm stuck sleeping in the finished basement just so I can get uninterrupted sleep. And given that radon is such a problem in central Ohio, I'm not sure if sleeping in the basement is such a great idea long-term. Anyway, my situation should improve greatly very soon.

Anyway, sounds like you have an easier time driving in the winter than I do. Columbus is terrible when it comes to plowing snow. Not that I've ever come close to running off the road with the Yaris, but I have slid on ice before. I still have the crappy OEM Bridgestones on. Columbus roads after a snowfall + crappy OEM tires = bad combination. I think I'll look into getting new tires right before this coming winter. Any recommendations?

33OH
06-28-2011, 09:56 PM
^ Hankook Optimo H727's are awesome in the snow and are great overall. They're a general all-season that get 100,000 miles on them. I'm running them now actually.

And I bought a house here last year as I don't plan on ever moving out of the area. But we get more snow then you get down there, but up here there's not really traffic so you just take your time and cruise through the snow. Yeah, I've slid but there's not much around to slid into. :)

And yes, alot of us have the radon issues. My county is actually #1 in the state for cancer rates at the moment and one of the top counties for radon.

These were on my wife's Yaris. They were taken off every winter before snow. 10,000 miles tops on the tires, they show very minimal wear. No imperfections in tires.
No rash, bends or cracks in wheels.
They basically look brand new
We are only selling them because they do not fit her new car.
