Just curious...what are window visors good for? I have seen them around and obviously there is a market. Are they mainly for smokers who want to have fresh air, but no rain to come in when it is raining?
Seriously...just curious.
No water come in when it's raining
No snow come in when it's snowing
Lower the inside temp when baking under the sun
Those are my main things when I decided to get the window visor .

Yeah basically when it rains I can leave the windows partially open, and it can keep the car ventilated when I leave it out in the sun.

I have a question for you.
Where did you get those window visors from???????
Are they Factory Toyota?? Or aftermarket??
I thought the only ones that were availible were for a 4 door HatchBack.
I like, I like
Please advise

I'd considered the window visors but didn't know how it would look on the coupe.
I suppose it looks better than I thought it would. I thought it would look off kilter.
Glad it doesn't! I abhor using the AC, So when it rains I can keep it open a bit. ^_^

They should! It's still the factory wiper, I just did the stand up mod, lol. I wanted it to be vertical like that when it wasn't in use instead of it being horizontal. I think it looks better, lol :w00t:

I love the exhaust man. It doesn't sound ricey at all and I love the deep tone. It does hang a little low though, so I know when I slam my car it will probably scrape lol. The Vitz emblem is on the way along with my license plate bracket!

@1.5 - Hey man, quick question. I'm not quite familiar with the whole offset thing. So if my RPF1s are 15x7 +41 offset, how big of a spacer would I need in order for it to be flush? Kinda like GAmmos, maybe a little less.
I would say 25-35mm
his sizing is 7 +20 front and 7 +5 rear so do get from 41-20 you would need 21mm spacers, id suggest 25mm, and then in the rear you would need
36mm spacers, Id suggest 30-35.

np dude but you can always go slightly narrower if you want it sunken in more, or if you want some poke i would go 25/35 which should be the max you can find

Yeah most definitely! I mean I wasn't really looking for that much poke anyways, I just wanted it to be make it kind of flush with the fender. I see some Penguin Garage rear hub spacers on MicroImage for $80. 10 or 13mm. I feel like maybe that would suffice.
well you could do the hub spacers and then add wheels spacers on top of that giving you up to like 48mm effectively
TerenceCruz

Hey guys, quick question.. So I bought two windshield mounts on ebay for my wink mirror. Would it matter if I stick them onto the tint I have on the windshield? I have that tint visor on my windshield that's why. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you guys!

Update: So, I received the windshield mounts for my wink mirror, but I guess the particular wink mirror that I bought doesn't have the holes in the back for these mounts. Sucks.. 3dr or 5dr would make no difference.
What I have always wondered about is the potential difference in lips between the North American and non-North American bumpers. Not sure of all the markets that get the larger bumpers to accommodate the beefier crash bars.

Sweet I just found them as well. But sweet, I think I will ask Garm soon. How much did just the front lip end up for you? And yes definitely I had a Polyurethane lip on my old EG before.
ok good.
IDK on price yet. It's part of a bulk order he placed for other parts so he's gonna break it down for me im sure once it's in.
Just dont expect it to be the same as the prices online. Going through Garm, you are paying extra for convenience/shipping/and processing

Megan coils are in the works! I will be getting them soon :D Hopefully I'll be able to ride on these 195/55/15 tires though.. Lol. Have you guys had any trouble rolling the yarii fenders at all? A friend looked at my fenders and said I don't have much I can roll, but it was just a quick look. When I get my coils I'll definitely try and get some fender work done. My wheels are 15x7 +41, but I have a 10mm spacer in the rear. When I get new tires do you guys have any recommendation about the tire size? Any help would be much appreciated!

Im on 14x7 +38 (effective +23 because of 15mm spacer) on 195/60/14.

Ahhh okay cool. With the spacer I'm just at +31 in the rear. With the 195/55/15 tires I rub just on bumps and stuff, so I figured if I slam it I would get a lot of rubbing, but I guess we'll see!

looks good with the megan coilovers,
how do like the yaris compared to your old EG?
Thanks man! I loved my EG. I may even get another one after this is paid off. I miss having a 4 door haha plus I just loved how the EG sedan looked. The Yaris looks just a little less attractive IMO because I was used to driving sedans, but this 3dr definitely grew on me and it's definitely more rare to see a Yaris built compared to an EG. If I could choose between the two I'd still choose the Yaris

Stock D15B7. Just added and intake pretty much. That's when I still didn't have too much knowledge about cars. I've learned a lot since then, but I still have so much to learn. That's true though. Most people buy these cars for the fuel economy anyways. Although I may not be going fast, I can still be low and look good while saving gas  Unfortunately no luck with the lights yet though. But the rear shocks problem has been fixed so she can go back on the road :w00t:

ABS and VSC lights are still on unfortunately. I don't notice any difference in the way it drives, so I may just have to reset the lights. The coilovers are amazing man. Planning to sell my Tanabe axle back to a friend and use the cash for a straight pipe.. I like the stealthy look and clearance since I plan on going closer to the earth haha. Just want to see how I should go about it. Any help or tips would be much appreciated. Thanks to Phil for some help already! Haha.
Yea man straight pipe is the way to go
just go 2.0-2.5 depending on your plans, delete both resonators and the cat if they will let you, in Cali you will HAVE to have a CA DOT approved hi flo cat though or youll be fined im sure. Just make sure since youre going straight pipe, that you put a nice muffler in the rear that doesnt restrict but that gives you a nicer deeper tone.

Yeah I definitely have some hw to do before I go through with this. Hopefully soon I'll find out what I want.
The key for a deep tone is to through a muffler on the end that will allow the air flow to resonate more in a larger space, especially if youre deleting the resonators

Hahaha as you requested Sugi! Here are some pics I just took today. Filter free, just washed her yesterday. Will definitely be going lower soon. I already removed the locks in the rear, I will try and remove the perches next and see how much lower to the earth I can get even with these fat tires  If the rear happens to drop lower than the front, I will just lower the front more  I just want to get rid of any raking I may have. Damn, just got an alignment too haha. Might have to throw the camber bolts in the front too. No fenders have been rolled yet either. Really gotta get to that. Guess the front tires are just shaping my fenders for me for now lol. I just trimmed the fender liner but soon I will be taking the whole thing out. The way the car sits right now I get only a little bit of rubbing in the front. On uneven roads, bumps, etc. So hopefully once I try and go lower I can roll the fenders and not have too much rubbing.

youre debating whether to go low now and then get new wheels or wait, get new wheels and then go lower. I say go with the first that way you get used to being that slammed and then you only have to get used to new wheels when theyre on. If you wait to slam it until after wheels then youre trying to get used to new ride height and new wheels. Its always wise to do one thing at a time, especially with extreme mods like slammed height and wild fitment, diagnosing problems is easier too

The rears are still uneven.. It's bothering me a lotttt. Lol. Anyone else have this problem with Megan Racing coilovers? I took off the locks, and perches, and they're still uneven! The rear driver side is like a little more than a quarter of an inch lower than the rear passenger side. I'm stuck. On top of that my ABS and VSC lights are still on. I wonder if they even work anymore..

My rear is also uneven. It must just be the car body isnt just not even laterally but also ride height.
My passenger side (or is it driver i forget) is like yours about a 1/4 inch lower. I have to keep one ring on the perch just to even it out. So one side has a ring the other doesnt.
As for ABS and VSC. Check the abs connector. either its loose or the abs sensor is dirty.

Fronts are 5k, Rears are 2.5k. Yeah if if these springs did not compress the way they do I would not ride without the perches either. Also, the rear shocks are height adjustable. But I threaded them down to the limit I think. There are still threads but it would not let me go down and more. I don't know why. Laz said he thinks they're supposed to stop there. I'll post pics.

yeah i got Stance coil springs to replace the 4k/4k from my cusco setup. about 50-60shipped per pair on ebay.
How much preload are you running on the front and back? you can lower the back to an extent with the strut height, but keep in mind every time the back wheels are off the ground, the spring will be pulling the strut apart, also you reduce the strut shaft travel length.

9K/9k Stance 6in springs.
yeah keep preload to a bare minimum, least for the front. The rears, actually you cant preload it, because moving the strut body just moves amount of shaft travel. But still you can bust a strut .
You cant get any more lower/higher than what the springs/ spring perch / lock rings give you or lack there of. So trying to thread that rear strut lower, wont give you more low. The front yeah, the shock body adjusting will control the car height, and not the spring lock ring.
@terrence I cannot tell the difference lol. Also do not shorten your shock much more. All of us with Megans who went too short with out shock length wound up blowing the shock.

Really?? Haha damn I hella see it. Definitely man I won't be touching them. I'll have to deal with it until I get shorter springs. So I'll be okay if I leave it where it is?

Yeah, measure your springs should be 7in. I have 6in stiffer springs. Basically measure how much your rear springs compress compared to its free length. You can calculate how much drop any spring will give with stated spring rates.
Course you could go with same spring rate but shorter springs.

Sweet. Thanks for the help man. The ones I'm looking at are - 6k 150mm / 336lb 6in. Looking for the pair with 9k spring rates. I was thinking about just changing the rear springs.

Yeah, seeing they are sold in pairs you can test to see how much drop front and back you can get. I do recall I only decided to buying the 9k 150mm once i saw they had it (gotta keep checking or maybe just ask them), i bought a pair of 8k 175mm (7") to test.
I only went with the 9k, because i calculated it would allow me to lower a bit more (i forgot the number) and still be at the same height compared to 4k when fully loaded with passengers. Be warned that 9k, is pretty stiff.
@ezhacker1 regarding your post about shortening rear shocks for preload/length. If you have the shock too long and once lowered at ride height the inner valve pushes down pretty far towards the bottom of the inner tube, wouldnt you call that preload too?
Also if the shock is set so long that once the car is lowered to its static height if the valve is resting agains the inside of the bottom of the tube, wouldnt that hold the car up anyways? in that case, shortening the shock would allow the valve to move back up the inner tube at static height and then that would allow the car to settle down more.
just like discussing these things with other suspension experts lol

Tested the cars ABS today. Yup, as of right now no ABS.. Lol. I gotta figure out what happened to that and the Vehicle Stability Control already. Those lights on the dash are not fun to look at. A friend of mine told me that if we did stretch the wires out on accident it will be costly to replace.. *sigh*

i read and re-read this a few times. LOL gets confusing. Front is easy to visualize how the whole system works, rear takes alot of my brain cells HAHA.
This is just my understanding of how suspension works.
The front shocks have preload abililty which is just pre compressing the spring even before the car is on the ground, but that spring will push against the shock hat, tugging on the shaft :bellyroll:
The rear struts need to be set up in such a way at static load with wheels on ground that the shaft has enough travel both up and down without bottoming out. I measured static shaft length, compared that to how much shaft is left with car on ground, and calculate at max load how much more the shaft will travel. Then i adjust the strut height accordingly, making sure that with wheels off ground the spring and perches don't fall out.
right, so in the rear you have some preload to keep the spring taught even with wheels in the air, mine i have way longer. I have never bottomed mine out, when they were short I topped them out all the time.
I was considering shortening the shock to see if it was holding me up at all, but with my recent mods my fitment is perfect so idc now haha

Haha I'm still trying to absorb all of this since I consider myself a noob when it comes to the way the coils can be adjusted. When I lift my car from the rear the springs just fall out.. Haha. The weight of the car is keeping them in place when it's on the ground.

Well to a certain extent the strut height should keep the spring assembly from falling out, but if you take out perches rings, or swap to shorter spring length then depends.
Ill look at your car at the coming up meet.

Ahhh okay. The ABS light didn't give you any problems at all when you installed the coilovers? Did you unplug the sensors or anything during the install? I'm just trying to figure out what may have caused the lights to go off cause I thought we did a good job about avoiding messing up the wiring.

So a friend of mine told me the reason why my ABS and VSC lights stay on now is because the car is too low for the sensors to get an accurate reading. I have to get "extensions" for the sensors supposedly. Still gotta do some hw but what he says does make sense.

Haha it sucks though man, I looked online and I can't really find any info about the wire "extensions"
