this is a question for those who has already played the seating around in yaris...

can yaris do some of these seating arrangement like the honda fit...?

can yaris do things like the "refresh mode"?
and the front seat open flat onto the folded back seats to accommodate long objects such as snow/surf board? ("long mode")

well, the rear seat can fold flat on the floor. that much i'm sure of, so i think you can do it with the yaris too. i'll check later if i can do it and the other configs as well.

great, thanks...
finally someone reply...
almost thought this forum has too few people...
need to recruit more people to here, so we can have discussions more...
i guess you tried the japan honda site for their seating configuration...
the fit's seating arrangement is just so clever...
but i hate honda fit's look outside...

If you know any owners/potential owners, definitely get them on here. The more the merrier. Anyways, there will be more and more people when this car comes out in the US too.

The Yaris, at least my RS, here in Canada, the rear seats can fold flat, move forward to increase hatch space and backwards to increase rear passenger legroom as well as recline back.

There is also storage underneath the rear floor in the hatch...

The front seats move forward and back and recline, but do not fold flat forward.

ok, maybe i had my wordings wrong...

1. can you take off the head rests of the front seats and move seat forward and recline fully... so create something like the honda fit's "refresh mode"...?

2. can the front seats recline onto the folded back seat... so long objects like surfing board can fit in...? also like the one that honda fit can do... please refer to the link i provided from my first post...

ps. here is the seating demonstration from the uk website... but they also didn't answer my questions...

The seats function just like that UK website demo, the front seats recline back and forward, but don't fold completely flat like the Fit's "refresh" mode...

well, if it doesn't recline completely flat...
can someone show us a picture of how far back it can recline...?
what's the maximum flatness it can get from reclining front seats...?

as echo said, the front passenger seat doesn't recline flat. the front passenger seat folds approx. 30-40degrees relative to the floor. at full recline there is about >2 inches of space from the top of the front seat's backrest to the back of the fully-folded back seats. you can still remove the head rests tho.

gee...
my tercel front seats are able to recline more than that...
but because there is no head rest to take off...
so no way to try to recline it all the way flat...
that would make me want to switch the front seats with the honda ones...
haha... i am persistant...

Flexibility is good but frankly, I can not think of why I should often need to lay the front seats completely flat. So, may be such flexibility should be an option for those who really need it. This way, buyers of a more basic car may not have to share the development and manufacturing costs. Just my humble opinion.

Nice! Looks like a Mazda 5 to me, but may be smaller. I hope it is as frugal as the Yaris. Anyway, it may not be sold in North America at all.

why?

I think I read somewhere that the Ractis might come to the US as the next gen Scion xA.

I read that same thing on Scionlife. Same place the Vitz was suggested as the xA replacement....too bad that didn't happen. Ractis would be a nice alternative if we don't end up getting the 5-door Yaris in the U.S.

why?
02-01-2006, 01:44 PM
Since the Ractis is based off of the Vitz, as is the Scion xA, xB, and Yaris, odds are one of them will be coming.

Another sub-compact car that can do this is the Smart forFour. Check out the configurations that you can do with it @ http://www.smart.com. But I'd still pick the Yaris. Like I said, its not as if I need this feature, if ever. If I need to transport anything long, I'd use my Camry S/W.

Thanks for the link. Too bad there is not a hint about whether the smartforfour is coming to Canada.

Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder! Nevertheless, these cars' look suggests to me that they are for the city rather than the highway. Well, that is just my impression. They can be very practical.

what is their gas milage. All I'm looking for now is a very good gas milage car that is built well. Don't really care what it looks like. Thats why I've ordered my yaris. Best car I could find by far so far.
