Spark plug torque

Does anyone know the correct torque for the spark plugs on the new Yaris. 1.33 litre. 1NR-FE engine? I have the information the plugs are ILKAR7B11. (NGK). and the torque is 15 - 20 Nm. This seems high to me, can anyone supply the correct information please?

I would not know why it would be different than a 2007/2008. I just changed mine and I think the ft/lb torque is 22. I pulled the TSB from the Micro Image forum DIY pages. You should be able to Google it as well right?

You may recognize yourself here:). Oh yes! I quite forgot about that. Must be old age! However I never did get a definite answer as the information given was for the 16mm.plug, the new Yaris has 14mm. The torque I have been given is 15 - 20 Nm. which seems high especially as the plugs have an anti-seize coating to prevent corrosion. Just trying to get the correct information to prevent damage by overtightening.

I have an '08 hatch back. 1.5 liter. My spark plugs don't fit in a 14 or 15 mm socket. They fit in a 16 mm socket.

I could be wrong, it could be the burnt carbon, but I think it is taking me 22 ft*lbs to take the old ones off.

I'm going with 15 ft*lbs of torque. Is 15 ft*lbs incorrect?

Does the addition of an extension have to be taken into account when calculating the torque?

It only gives specs for 14 or 17 mm. Is this a sign that even though mine don't fit in a 14 mm socket, that they are called that anyway?

Honestly ur putting way to much thought in to it ...just change ur plugs ,use antsieze and snug them up that's it

Thanks, I did use antiseize btw. I'm still curious to any other answers though.

apparently NGK Reccomend AGAINST the use of anti-seize provided you don't leave them for 150K+ miles. Nonetheless I used it when replacing my stock ones with NGK Iridium IX plugs..
