I'm already happy with the MPG from my LB 2007 Yaris, however what kind of modes can make it even better? I'm not concerned about more speed or performance...I'm interested in mods that will increase MPG.

Any ideas anyone?

Thanks!

Lower the car, make some panels to smooth the underbody of the car, run the stock sized tires with lighter wheels, install lighter pullies etc.

5W20 oil may help as well.

Anything to decrease weight and air turbulence will help with fuel economy. Also if tuning becomes available, a good tune will net you a bit more mileage as well.

Not sure if an intake and exhaust will help at all.

I like the idea of using a lighter oil (5W20) but will that void the warranty? And if using lighter oil, will that provide the required protection?

Synthetic fluids everywhere. Havent tried on the Yaris yet since it's still sitting at the dealer with a "sold to nice people" sign in the window, but on the Exploder everything was synthetic and helped out a bit, but mind you it had a lot more fluids than a yaris has IE: Tx case, 2X differential. The biggest saver is the control of the bionic gas pedal actuator AKA your right foot.

a 5w20 synthetic should be fine in the car.

There are some driving techniques explained on this forum that some members have claim to improve their MPG. Do a search.

This has been sad enough I know, but any mod that frees up the engine will save you gas, lightened pulleys(they sell light crank pulleys already for Yari),new bigger free flowing exhaust, new cold air intake, new free flowing header, and thats just the start, any thing you do to reduce weight will help,go on a diet maybe, this maybe the toughest mod ever.

Get a scanguage II; it monitors everything including real time MPG. With this you will be able to conserve fuel by learning to drive your Yaris in the most fuel efficient manor.

where does one get the pulley?

SEARCH

There is actually a brand spanking new one being sold for 110 shipped in the classifides now... but most all our vendors here have one brand or another of pulley for sale.
