One of my friend planning to buy a 2007 Yaris sedan s because she really like my car, but then there is one guy we know offered us a Mercedes clk430 red hard top for $17000 dollars, it's got around 50,000 miles on it.
What you guy think? should she spend around $17000 on a new yaris or a 1999 clk 430?

Personally I'd spend that much on a new car as opposed to one thats almost 10 years old, because things do break with age and then you have both the loan and repair bills to consider.
Plus the parts for a mercedes are way too expensive...

The clk430 is an awesome ride... but the cost of ownership is going to be alot higher than the yaris, just be sure to factor that in.

It's all about what your friend wants...
The yaris will beat the crap out of a V8 Mercedes in the MPG department.
The Mercedes will beat the crap out of the Yar in pretty much all the other departments...

Your friend can buy the Mercedes if she concurrently throws $3000 in the bank for the first set of repairs.

In about 10K more miles the benz will be due for some front brakes($700-1000), the instrument cluster will start to lose digits($1000+), the mass air flow sensor will take a dump($800+), the engine mounts will start leaking at 70K($450), etc., etc. These newer Mercedes are not very owner friendly after over 100K miles. That is why most owners lease them, or trade them in after their financing is up.
It was a nice car in 1999, the new CLK(209 chassis) came out in 2003 and the next CLK will be out soon right after the new C-class releases.
It's your money.
