Where: I90 Eastbound, mile marker 228, Ohio
When: Sunday, March 18th, 2007
Gunned by: Airplane (FUCKING PRICKS!)
Speed: 77 in a 65
Who: Ohio State Trooper

It was a regular pig slaughter. They were waiting for my ass. He said they "clocked me at 77 MPH, at which point traffic let up and I was seen accellerating to speeds of 'at least 80 MPH.'" No shit officer. I wasn't the only one. There were 5 cops in the visible area around where I was. This is, as they call it, a speed trap.

It was the first speeding ticket I had since I was 18, so it'll be the only 2 points on my license. Oh well.

I have gotten 2 so far, one for 11 over (41 in a 30) and one for 18 over (48 in a 30). Both by the same cop, on the same road, while getting back to work from lunch. I have a radar detector, but they use lasers here. The stupid thing is EVERYONE goes 40 on this road, its wide open and has 4 lanes. Of course whenever I do keep it around 30 the cop is never there :burnrubber: And the 18 over one was :bs: because there was a car that just passed me! Oh well, I guess the meth problem in my town isn't that big a deal, better get the people who have jobs & cars.

My first ticket was for doing 75mph in a 35mph, got it down to just a speeding record in that city.

My second ticket (2 years later) was for doin 35mph in a 25mph, cost 80 bucks for that ticket and i didn't even know that street was only 25 mph.

I got one too: 120 KM/h in a 80 KM/h zone... 60 bucks!!! but the sign was not visible, the previous zone was 110... I was about to get that ticket anyways...

My ticket can be summed up pretty well with what Chino posted, Why is that you say, BECAUSE I WAS FOLLOWING HIM AND GOT PULLED OVER TOO! Gonna cost me $110!!!

ChinoCharles

I'm sorry Marc!

I'm going the speed limit at all meets from now on! Its easy to have lead foot when you're racing around with fellow owners, but it surely wasn't worth what happened that day.

Fastest I have been so far was I think around 100. Possibly 110. Def way faster than what I should have been going.

Speak of the devil, just got one Saturday morning at 4:15am going to get breakfast at McDonalds on my lunch break,57 in a 35,im only on that road for about 2mins before I make another turn to go to micky d's,and Im coming off a road thats 55mph,so I might fight this one.
And the first we the Yaris was on the highway,83 in a 65 about 5 months ago.
I also have a running a red light ticket,so 3 so far with the Yaris, this car attracts bad luck.

my first and only ticket has been in the yaris (none in my cobra WTF?!?!?) it was 88 on the freeway (65mph) cost me almost $300 when i was done taking traffic school and paying the fine

I find myself speeding in the Yaris more than any other car I have ever owned.

I generally do not speed on city streets, but with the Yaris I am always going 10 over.

The expressway is another matter though. I would routinely hit 120 in my PT on the on the way to work in the morning, I don't trust the Yaris at much more than 80.

87 in a 70 on I10 near Blythe Ca. My partner was driving. $285.00!!!!!! Damn CHP!

I don't think they so any proper speeding checkes here.. It's kinda pointless, the highways are supposedly limited to 80km/h, but everyone does at least 120... Only time I've been stopped was when I had my dealer plates, you're not supposed to drive after 6PM. But the cop was friendly, and frankly puzzled to see a white guy drive such a car, and managing to speak Thai as well , so he let me off.

Anyway even if you do get a ticket here, the easiest option is to, how shall we say, contribute to the cop's retirement fund...

i've only been pulled over one time in a vehicle with 4 wheels and that was because one of my license plate bulbs was out.

i can't tell you how many times i've been pulled over on 2 wheels...four hands still wouldn't be enough.

Has anyone ever received a ticket for not maintaining a minumum speed?

I figure the Yaris might be a strong candidate for this!

i got one a while back when i had my GTI. it was in Vallejo, and i was "clocked" at 46 mph in a 25 mph zone. it didn't even seem like i was past 35 mph...oh, and a donut muncher on a bike pulled me over.

My father-in-law was notorious for that. It was the funniest shit to be in the car for also. He loved listening to talk radio, and he would forget he was on the freeway and start doing between 40 and 50. With out fail (even if you reminded him that he was trying to piss people off) there would be a cop wondering what the hell he was doing.

The latest speeding ticket I got was when I came back from Oregon back in early April. Just got finished trying to get my yaris( no mods at this point) to go faster than 115mph, and on video. Never made it, got too dark, just came out of the mountains going back into CA, heading down hill in Neutral. Cop nailed me on the radar at 80, finally caught up with me while i was still rolling down the hill at 90. He was cool, gave me a 70+ in a 65 zone. The sad part is that not even 2 miles down the road the maximum speed went back up to 70. $175 ticket.

I thought the yaris had a cloaking device to highway police. But if you do get a ticket, just ask the judge if he thinks a yaris can go that fast!? Most likely he'll think not.

65 in a 45 zone, on empty backwoods road. It was my mistake, it went from 55 to 45 for a mile or so, then back to 55, but I did not slow down. Sherrif's deputy had a car equipped with radar unit, though I could have sworn I was going less than 60. Thing that pissed me off about was that when I said I did not realize I was going that fast, he gave me a ticket! Said he GOING to give me a warning, but they are required to ticket whenever the driver "disputes" what the officer says :iono:  :iono:

i told my girlfriend this the other day:
i'm going to get a ticket. the questions isn't "if", the question is "when." i speed ALL the time. i do it carefully, i'm not in and out of lanes, i just like to drive fast. i'm surprised it hasn't happened already.

picture this, i'm first at a red light when another car pulls up. they see me in this little red fire rocket so of course they challenge me. and of course i accept. while i hit 50 into 35 and look into my rear view mirror at them, i can't help but laugh and think, "jessa, you're gonna get a ticket one day."

How does airplane clocking work, anyone know? With standard radar and laser, the cops need to be in front or behind you. The further off to the side they are, the slower your speed will show due to "cosign error", so they need to be in your direct path, or as close to it as possible for an accurate reading. How the heck do they do it from above you???

I am afraid to speed in my yaris with the stock suspension. I might fly off in too the stratosphere and bounce off a SR-71. Actually as I get older I really am not in that much of a hurry to get anywhere.

You are timed between two fixed points and not radar, or laser.

I haven't got a ticket since I got my license. But as someone said I do find myself speeding on the Yaris more often then in my previous cars. Someone ever wonder why???

I just really don't wanna get a ticket here. Cops allow a 10mph over the limit most of the time. But Its $50 for goin over the limit plus $5 for every mph over the lmit so thats always $100 speeding ticket.

Ha at all of the posts on this thread. I wish I had seen it sooner.

I've spent 2 grand in lawyers fees this year alone.

8 citations in the last 6 months.

35 total points they have tried to stick me with. Very few of them speeding though, so I won't list them here. :)

Route 6 (Patterson Ave) just west of 288 interchange heading east. I'm lucky that the owner of our company has a brother, who is a big shot lawyer in Richmond. His lawyer partner represented me. He is usually just a criminal lawyer. He must have pulled some strings behind the scenes because I should have been crucified. I guess since I'm the only IT guy for the company, they didn't want me in jail or without a license. I feel quite lucky.

I-75 South headed to downtown Atlanta (in my old white Volvo 850 Turbo)..85 in a 55.

Georgia State Patrol sitting right inside where the limit changes from 65 to 55. I never had a chance.

I thought oh this will be a $100 fine. WRONG! $400 damn dollars!!!!!! I should have challenged it someway. I consider it my forced donation to the corrupt City of Atlanta and the State of Georgia.

Now as to the other 250,000 commuters going FASTER than me on the same road at the same moment, thats another story.

Ive had lots of warnings, one ticket for coasting down a hill and winding up 20km over the 90km/h limit. Aparently theres a cop in saskatchewan with the same last name who trains cops, so I get off with a fair number of warnings.

Went to fight a ticket once for doing 10 over just outside of my wifes hometown - the cop was the defenition of an ASSHOLE. It was dark and this guys starts tailgating me, then on comes his highbeams, its along a lake so spots to pull over are few and far between. He kept pushing me until I went over the speed limit and then pulled me over. There were over 20 people in court that same day to contest tickets from this same cop, go figure.

I dont know whats the deal in the US but as far as I know here the smallest ticket is around $120 and jumps exponentially from there.

Here in Minnesota cheapest ticket is $107...for seat belt or not having license on person, speeding is $127 for 1st 10 mph over then gets expensive.

I've had two speeding tickets. Oddly enough in the first year of modifying my old supercharged Z24 cavalier.

Was gunned before the on ramp to 45 off the beltway in Houston. Pasadena patrol officer set up in the left breakdown lane. Decided to show an antagonizing prick who rode my ass how he was picking the wrong car. Was clocked at 105 in a 65. Dumb, I know. Officer was cool and dropped it to only 80. Assistant DA lowered the price tag to a cool $130. Haven't street raced since.

I got hit with a 98 in 55 when I was 19. I saw a pair of taillights waaaay down the road and for some reason I had the bright idea to see how fast I could catch up to it. Damn reflective police sign on the sides. You cant see them unless your pointing your lights at it. I figured it out as I was passing him :( $735 it set me back. Luckily I was a lil more than a mile from my house and since I knew the Sheriff he just followed me home instead of having my truck hauled off. The only part I regret is him wakin my parents up at 2:30 in the morning and explaining what happened. I have yet to live that down.
