For the 2007 Yaris's coming into the United States...where were they built?
I read that they were designed in France, but built in Japan....is this true?
Inquiring Minds want to Know....

It's a european design, designed in france, but i think the lead designer was greek. The ones you guys get in the US are built in Japan, the ones in the south-east asia area are built here in Thailand, but I am not sure about the European models, probably built over there since they have different engines available.
International car of mystery

i thought that the LB was a Japanese design and the sedan was a European design. on the window sticker, it says all the places where the car was built.

serial number starting with J or JTD? means it was built in japan. K for korea.
if it starts with a number ie, 1GN (chey uplander) means it was built in north america...

The Yaris that is sold in NA is made in Japan. The Yaris hatch that is sold in Europe is made there as well. Regarless the Hatch was designed in Europe and the Sedan was designed in Japan like the poster implied above.

"Freedom fries...." Gimme a break
Where would the world be without a French Kiss? You can call them anything you like, but the French still invented them.
Are we going to start calling Arab horses "Egyptian" now because bin Laden is Saudi? :bs:

Recently bought a new Camry for my mom. I made sure we picked one on the lot that was from Japan. I think she thought I was crazy. Another easy way to tell if it was built in Japan or the US without looking at the VIN is to look at the front bumper. If it has one of those caps covering a hole in the bumper, then its from Japan. That is where they tie it down for the boat ride. Its not on the US models.

yeah, it says (if i remember correctly) assembly and parts, it has it in percentages. to look specifically where, like the afformentioned post, look at the VIN.

It's not only for the boat ride.....it makes towing much easier.....they don't have to go under the bumper.....they just take the cap off ~ I asked my dealer about this cause I was really curious and I just HAD to find out ~ Hehe ~
Well.....I know my one was built it Japan.....cause I waited 2 months for her to be shipped from Japan!!! We do have a factory in Melbourne here in Australia.....but I was glad my was being shipped from Japan ~
I prefer the Japan built ones.....just because they know what they're doing and Toyota is japanese.....they build it with pride ~ Other place may only build it cause they're getting the money ~ No offence or anything....just what I feel ~
But yea.....Hatchback is European design and Sedan is Japanese design ~

The hatch was designed in Toyota's French design studio (headed by a Greek). The sedan was designed in Toyota's California design studio.
NA, Japan and Australian Yaris are made in Toyota's Japanese plant.
European Yaris are made in Toyota's French plant.
SE Asia Yaris are made in Toyota's Thai plant.
Another plant in Taiwan would also make Yaris, probably destined for NA markets as well.

heh, got it mixed up. i was about to get the LB before i got the sedan...and i looked into the designs of both. i looked at the LB first, thinking i was going to get it...but since i got the sedan first, i kept that notion that the sedan was a Euro design. this probably doesn't make sense. lol...

...Built in Japan...
Nice. We kicked the Japanese around in WWII then showed them how to kick our butts in return! Looks like they're doing a good job too.
