View Full Version : Bought my Yaris in Oct 2006, never replaced tires, 50k miles

My front right tire seems to be getting low on air pressure every time I get gas. All others stay at 32 PSI or above, but yesterday the front right was at 18 PSI.

Is that a sign that the tire is bad, or the inside tube is bad?

I'm a very light and slow driver, and this is the first time I am considering purchasing new tires because of the cost.

There isn't a tube inside. It's either a:
- bent rim
- leaking valve
- punctured tire

Ah, interesting. Is there a way for me to personally check this easily?

spray soap and water mix on tire , around rim to look for rim leak , the valve steam could leak too...but yes first go for most obvious ..nails..etc

also ur tires are old and i would rec new tires cos of weather cracking

why?

i would agree that both the mileage and physical age of the tires show you should buy an entire new set soon.

Alright. That is good advice. I will replace the tires soon.

I am shopping around at nearby tire centers and pulled up this quote.

Do these tires look like a good deal?

Does it matter that there are "0 in stock"? That price looks good, wish we could get a decent 185/65-15 tire up here for $56 before all fees/taxes.

Thats a pretty good price for 4 tires. Me personally I would go for hankook optimos they are quieter on the road noise and offer a comfortable ride.

i've had the yokohama avid touring-s on my 07 sedan for a few years now. they're a GREAT tire and the sidewall is really sharp-looking IMHO. i've heard good things about the hankooks mentioned above, but haven't had any personal experience with them.

also, check to make sure you have TPMS on your particular vehicle. my 07 didn't come with it and that could save you another $20 off the price you have been quoted(i think it was standard on 08+)!

Great price! Your 07 won't need the TPMS rebuild kit.

Are you in Southern Cal or Northern Cal? That seems like a good price. I have Yokohama AS430 tires on my Yaris, and they are awesome in the dry and in the rain. They are horrid in any type of snow, and having nothing in the back half of my car does not help. Plus they seem to last forever.

How can I check to see if I have a TPMS on my Yaris?

Southern California.

Thanks all. It gives me peace to know this quote is approved by you all, the experts!
