Funny down shift in my auto trans?

When I brake (especially when going around a corner or downhill) my RPMs jump noticeably and it feels like its down shifting. Is this OK or an indication of some nightmarish tranny issue?

That's normal for the AT. If you don't touch the brake it will coast in DFCO (decelleration fuel cut-off) mode, but as soon as you tap the brake it starts engine braking.
