Color stripe on shocks

What does the colored stripe on the bottom of the shock absorbers signify?

I have seen pink/pink, and pink/blue.

My friend's 08 hatch has the same colors as my 11 hatch.
My 5-door doesn't match the other 2.

My 5-door handles quite different compared to my 4-door.

Nobody knows?

Are the shocks the same but the mounting points different perhaps? Do the hatches have different hardware than the sedans but the actual shock absorbers and spring rates are the same??

Anybody know?
