Does our car have a limp mode if you do something the ECU doesn't like?

passing someone today, dropped it into 3rd and gave it hell, tapped the revlimiter and shifted into 4th and the CEL came on it wouldn't rev any even with the clutch depressed, gave it a few pumps of the gas and letting out on the clutch and the car came back to life and the CEL went off. scarred me thought i had blew it an hour away from home.

I believe so. Usually happens in situations like you described. I remember reading several threads about it some time ago here.

Yes. If you read the stored code you will likely find it was a misfire.

Don't take it to the red line! Power is falling off anyway at that point. I'd shift just before the red line.

Interesting. I've let mine ping the rev limiter some (I have an auto so it shifts whenever it feels like it) while doing burnouts and haven't seen it do that. The only time I threw a CEL at WOT was before my 1zz injectors (lean).
