The color on my Yaris is pretty unique so I'm having a hard time seeing any rims I like with it.

Is it possible to have ones custom colored? :help:

I apologize, I'm really new to this so forgive the question bombarding.

How would I go about doing this?
Pick the rim I like, then get it powder coated?
Where do you buy the powder, From the dealership?
Is it hard to do yourself? Is there anywhere that does it?
Thank you for your quick response!

Yes you can buy a wheel and then take it to a powder coater and they will source out the powder from their distributor and will have everything you need. Typically it costs around 50-100 per wheel.

Without a powder coating machine, oven, and experience you would not be able to do it yourself.

If you google powder coat and your zip code you should find something.

There are hundreds of thousands of color options.

Or, clean, prep and primer, paint and clear coat them yourself. If you prep them properly and use good quality primer and paint they will look good for years.

Powder coated wheels are very nice. A bit more pricey than spraying them yourself but they will have a more durable and cleaner finish.

PS. If you do powder coat wheels, just be cautious of the composite of the wheel. Some wheels have a negative side effect from it.

Wheels, since they are usually pretty dirty, must be prepped REALLY well for powdercoating. If they are already painted or powdercoated, they will also need to be stripped first.
A good powdercoater will take care of all of those things without a problem.

Part of the cost posted earlier (sounds about right for my area as well) is the stripping and that they have to deal properly with the hazardous waste (lots of it). I'm happy to pay for that.

I will suggest you not to do by yourself if you really need to just bring the rims to dealer and do the powder coated with your selected color. Alloy rim usually coated with steel color so its your choice to coated again.

Just a thought, try looking into the Sparco Assetto Gara's, come in many unusual colors and are relatively inexpensive. Maybe Garm could hook you up with a set, if he carries them.

There's always Plasti Dip if you want something less expensive, and less permanent.

Ive used that and had great experience with it, its just harder to keep clean, it's rubber and very porous and scrubbing too hard can cause it to peel off and you would have to respray it
