How did you learn what a drip is? From an old relative? I've never heard anyone use the term in it's original setting, but my oldest relatives told me It was a term that people used (in California) in the 1940's to describe a person with little or no 'personality'.

To save money they probably never replaced it after the accident.

I tend to use a lot of older terms.
Sometimes when I'm being absent-minded I call soda "Pop".
I was raised by a much older hippie'ish type mom.
I have the lingo of an older woman with the looks of a teen. :help:

Oh wow. So in some Asian countries they don't even bother with the impact beam?

LOL. I think having much older people in your close sphere of influence when you are growing up is great....helps re emotional stability, wisdom, and in many other ways. I had an older than average mother who was really more like an older sister. My grandparents (who had waited to have my mother and my aunt) were really more like my parents, and they were in their mid 60s when I was born (and my grandmother was still swimming 75+ laps (not competition length laps) probably every other day...and she lived to be 90). I'm one of the most fortunate souls on earth (IMO) to have had them and their love/wisdom/influence, etc. in my life while growing up. Plus, It's fun to have had experiences from decades (sometimes many decades) before one's birth related by relatives and then be able to subsequently surprise other (especially much older) people re 'what you know/are aware of' during a conversation.

Seems in Japan they don't have them either. None on my Belta.

Pretty sure our 3rd gens don't come with them, either. Realistically, the way our cars are designed I don't think they'd help much of anything in the event of a rear impact...

About half a year ago, my '12 Yaris was rear ended by a first gen Matrix. Don't know how fast he hit me at, but it pushed my car about 5-7 ft. When I got out of my car, I'd thought my bumper would be hanging or crushed. Surprisingly, my bumper looked ok with some minor paint scrapes and slightly bent diffuser. His Matrix took on a bit more damage than my Yaris.

After that accident, I feel more confident in my Yaris now as far as safety goes.

You might want to take a peek & make sure your Yaris has bumpers, I'm sure they are there. Mine has bumpers - They BETTER have bumper bars...Looks like some folks cars had accidents and they neglected to put new ones back on. Probably just a small oversight by the body shop, yeah, right...!

More like a good way to charge for the part and labor, not do it, then pocket the $$.

Mine doesn't have the rear now. Had to remove it to put on my asian rear bumper. Might fabricate my own bar like the beatrush version but WAY cheaper.

If mine didn't come with one and was supposed to, I'd have a lawsuit on my hands, being that my car had 3 miles on it when I bought it, lol. I vaguely recall last time I was down there, I didn't see one. Now I want to double check :/
