Hi,

I have put 16" wheels with a tyre size on 205/50/16 on a 2001 Toyota Vitz which available as Yaris in US and Europe. Last night on the way back from garage the front wheel touched whilst going over a ditch. Is the wrong size for the car? Should I go for 205/45/16 and what impact will have have on the car as 45 profile is a bit low. I have heard that the car might go solid if upgraded to that profile. Feedback will be appreciated.

P.S. the car was parked in such a position so I can show the space between the arch and the tyre at the front.

Where on the tire did it rub? How big of a ditch? What is the width/offset of the wheel?

typically youd want a 195/50-16

I run 205/50/16 on my car. I'm lowered with NF210s. I did the baseball bat fender rolling method and it took care of rubbing when going over bumps. The only time I rub is at full lock turning to the left.

That tire is taller then stock throwing off your speedo and odometer

I've checked mine via GPS speedometer and those police radar things. What shows on the speedo is only 1mph less than what the GPS says.

205/50/16's are a bit tall for a first generation Vitz.

FYI: My speedo was off right out of the box with stock tyres. After installing 205/50/16's, my speedo is dead on.

I have put in 205/45/16 at the back and 195/45/16 at front to eliminate any rubs and its fine now. The car is being sprayed and will be ready in few days. Will post the updated pics soon. Thanks for the help :)

Highlights from today's day during some final touch ups and tweaks to the new ride. Don't worry about the pic quality, these were taken by my trusty mobile phone. Official shoot coming soon :)

i ran 215/45-16s and lowered on Micro Image springs. Only rubbed in front during really hard cornering.

here's what they looked like on the yaris

Your car could use a bit lowering to make it look better. But that's just personal preferance.

I was wondering if you added a lift kit, then I saw the off-roading pictures and had my answer. Is it tippy while cornering sitting away up there?

Needs to get lowered badly, the exhaust tips arecrooked and looks weird with only the rear windows tinted.

How do the Continental tires perform?
