View Full Version : Change temperature gauge from Celsius to Fahrenheit

Hey everyone!
I have a 2008 UK Yaris with a digital dash like the one pictured below.
The only problem I have with it is that it tells me the temperature in Celsius. This isn't much of a problem as I can read Celsius, but I prefer to work in Fahrenheit.
Does anyone know if it is possible to change the units the dash shows?
I am guessing it can't change the units by itself, but is there any sort of add-on you can get such as a converter?
I know it is a long shot, just asking on here before I give up home! ;)
Thanks!

I found this digital-to-analog converter.
Feel free to print and paste on dashboard.

I created a module to convert non-switchable kmh clusters to work in MPH and also for the odometer to increment in miles. I could probably do something similar with the thermometer, since on your cluster it is taking its measurement off of the ambient temp sensor for the air conditioning.

That gauge cluster is so cool. I wish they would have given it to us over here in the states.

I have a LHD one that I imported from Europe. They work on our cars with just a couple of minor wire swaps on the cluster connectors.

Wow that would look cool in my car.. heh How much money/difficulty in doing that?

I paid about $150 for mine. They are incredibly hard to track down thought.

Dang, that would be worth it IMHO. That looks pretty cool. I assume that under normal lighting conditions you dont see all the "off" elements as well as you do in the picture.

Might have to start scouring ebay, heh.

Correct on the "off" part.

I even figured out how to change the color on these:

Damn shame I have a third gen now! lol. I'd be all over that.

How hard would it be to add one of these modules if you were to add one?
Keep in mind I am a total novice!
Also, any pictures of the ones you changed the color of? :)

Here's a video of it in action: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KkUOgEvTYAY

I haven't done up a DIY for it yet, but it just involves connecting 4 wires to existing wires on one of the cluster connectors.

And, here's a thread with pictures of the color changes:

Sounds easy enough!
And I thought you meant you had changed the color of the digital clusters!
Love that instrument cluster in white as well - I know it sounds weird but it looks really clean! ;)

There is one at the end of that thread where I changed a digital one from the greenish to blue.
