My hood needs to be resprayed and i was wondering if anyone has done it on here. i know a local shop said he would do it for 200, but that is what the hood cost me to begin with so i think i would rather try it myself.

Shop around, almost every single body shop I know of offers free quotes. In all honesty unless you have the right equipment I'd have a professional do it. Avoid the stealerships body shops!

Mine has been re cleared once when I got it and just recently with some detail to it. Both times was included in my repair because I was having post-accident work done and was included in the price.

200 is pretty cheap unless they don't have to do any work at all. Are you talking about having the gelcoat stripped and then a thick coat of UV protected clear being applied? I haven't had mine done yet just because I have a shop that will be doing it that has said it is a tricky operation and isn't guaranteed to even come out right. This alone would lend to not trying it yourself, but if you are braced for the worst then why not.

It should be able to sand down some of the gel coat and re-clear on the gel coat but not take the gel coat off that typically causes too much damage to repair good or easily. given the size of the hatch back hood i feel 200 is kind of high i'll have to talk to him again when we go to pick up my wife's car(fixing a bad spot in the fender and mirror polishing the her car). i guess i will have to set some money aside after it is paid of and save a little to get it re-cleared by him so that it will look nice and polished.
