I unscrewed the radiator cap off my 2007 Toyota Yaris. Yesterday, while in stop and go traffic with ac on, the high coolant temperature warning light came on! So it led me to check it.
Does it look normal, should I take it to a Toyota Dealership to check?

The coolant reservoir looks normal, the hose level looks a little low you need to top it off all the way to the top to avoid air getting in there when you put the cap back on. If you don't have a temperature gauge I would get a smart phone application along with one of those wireless elm-327 and monitor that coolant temperature real close to see if in fact the engine is getting too hot or just a computer glitch. Have you seen any small coolant leaks on your driveway in the last few days? particularly where the water pump is? The water pump usually start leaking a few days before it completely fails. check the water pumps weep hole and if you see any signs of coolant replace the pump immediately before it leaves you stranded. Good luck to ya
fyi-you can get the elm327 on ebay for $20 and the iphone app for $5

Thanks for the reply, but no leaks on the drive way
After my water pump was replaced in warranty.
Some trapped air showed up. Like in your photos and the reservoir was full to max hot.
I added some coolant to the radiator and now all is fine.

in addition, get a new Radiator cap. it might fix the problem together with bleeding air out of your system.
