The 2015 Honda Fit was announced today. Japan gets three engine options, including the sporty RS and a Hybrid.
Frankly, I like the look; certainly more than the current Fit and more than any other Honda in the last few years.

Looks good, not great though. Interior is interesting, if not a little weird.

Now? They've always looked like mini-Odysseys!

True. But that minivan shape is what goes into its name, the FIT. There's a reason it has the biggest and most versatile interior in a sub-compact.

I thought that was the Hyundai Accent?
Either way, Fit is always a big seller.

Looks like the CRV and Odyssey had a one-night stand and this is their resulting love child. I find it unattractive, as I do the prior fits.

Maybe change the name to Honda Fat.

Never liked the Honda Fit design; just TFU for my taste. The new body style remains mini-van-like, but I like it!

The minivan look and horrible cupholder placements killed it for me.
I didn't even drive it out of the parking lot when I test drove it...

We enjoy the '11 Fit . No issues as of yet with 26,000+ miles . The average gas mileage for the past 2+1/3 years is 36 , http://www.fuelly.com/driver/cinder/fit . Didn't enter it to Fuelly after purchase until May '12 , kept the F.E. in a black book . . Would get the hybrid in a blink of the eye . For each their own .

So Fuelly doesn't allow you to enter past fill ups? If not, do you know if any of the other sites that perform the same/a similar function allow past fill ups to be entered? I have a spiral bound logbook (and it is Black ) that is slightly smaller than an iPad. I ran out of room in it, so I just take 8 1/2 x 11 sheets of plain white bond/copy paper (I buy them by the ream -- $2.97 for 500 sheets at Wal-Mart and don't just use the sheets for this purpose), fold the 11" side in half, tear the sheet apart and use both sides of each of the two halves. These loose sheets easily fit (as a bundle in chronological order) inside the spiral bind. I keep a rubber band around the book so the sheets won't fall out. I don't have anything from my logbook logged into any database.

Can't complain about this . 40.47 m.p.g. for the base model FIT with the 5 speed auto .

Fuelly does allow you to do that. I found a bundle of old receipts with my mileages written on them to catch up my backlog before I used the site.

Does it retain the fold up rear seat cushion (allowing upright bicycle storage)? I can't find the answer on any of the searches I've done.

So is the new Honda Fit gonna get 40mpg consistently like what my Yaris gets? Much larger interior capacity is quite tempting though...

Finally, a Fit that doesn't look like a scared chipmunk.
Seems like it would look even better with a few light mods...
I actually like it quite a bit!

Fit sedan? There's no such thing, or are you wishing there was? If there was though, then it couldn't be called "FIT" as it's hatch configuration defines the vehicle.
And yes, the FIT is made in Japan.

New FIT is going to be assembled in Mexico . Had a few Ford Festivas built in Mexico with no issues . Hopefully that'll apply to the FIT . The Festiva had the fold up rear seat and put a love seat / sleeper sofa in it . Roomy little thing . Miss it . The 1st generation AVEO had same seat . Almost bought one about 5 years ago . This was when they were less than $7,500 new . That was for the hatchback base model with a 5 speed manual without A/C . The clutch and shifting were smooth .

Well, they did make the Fit Aria/City, which is essentially a Fit Sedan.

The 1.3 ltr. would be interesting for the sedan. Should of named it MisFit . Would miss it being a FIT .

^^^^^ Earlier today I was listening to a car maintenance call in show on a local radio station (KPRC 950 AM). I'd never listened to this particular show before. The show has two hosts, one male and one female (each owns an auto repair place).
Two things I heard caught my ear more than others:
1. (see my post #77 from a few minutes ago -- a response to MadMax's post -- on the 'How long should the original battery last' thread in the DIY section). The hosts recommended the NAPA Legend battery (also recommended by CTScott) as the best aftermarket battery.
2. Honda originally planned to name the FIT the FITTA, but they learned that FITTA is a vulgar word in the Norwegian language, so they shortened it to FIT.

I remember reading an article about this several years ago, and, if I remember correctly, fitta is slang for the, um, female genitalia. Hence the name was changed, and the car is called the Jazz in Europe.
Anyway, I think the new Fit is a gorgeous car based on the photos. Kinda disappointing, however, to hear that it's being built in Mexico. I'm presuming production is being moved there due to the poor exchange rate of the Japanese Yen? It would be nice if Honda instead built the car in one of their plants here in Ohio, but I guess given the low price point of subcompacts, it wouldn't be price effective.

Cheaper labor and less cost to ship . Keep our fingers crossed on the build quality . Looks like the hybrid Fit may arrive by next summer . http://www.inautonews.com/honda-prepares-hybrid-versions-of-the-fit-for-the-us-market#.UfVlUSnD8dU  .

Not this FUD again, please... The topic has been discussed (and debunked) ad-nauseam here and elsewhere. Car manufacturing standards are the same no matter where you happen to build them. Manufacturing plants are almost, if not completely, automated these days. It makes no sense to blame people of a certain country over the quality of a car (at least not anymore). Was this the case 20 or even 10 years ago? No. But things have certainly improved since then, and will continue to do so (http://www.reuters.com/article/2013/05/04/us-audi-mexico-idUSBRE9430D220130504).
Case in point? The Fiat 500. I don't see many people complaining about the quality of that car, especially considering that the original Fiats were terrible in that respect.
As to the exchange rate of the yen being a factor, I don't dismiss it as quickly, although I think it has more to do with the fact that manufacturing in Japan has its drawbacks (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japan_earthquake), to say the least (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fukushima_Daiichi_nuclear_disaster).

The issues regarding quality aside (which I generally agree with you on. My sister's Nissan Sentra was built in Mexico, and it's given her no problems whatsoever), one thing I've wondered is, why are car manufacturers expanding in Mexico? Yes, the labor's cheap, but there's so much corruption south of the border. And I won't even go into the problems with the drug cartels. The article like the one you linked to above doesn't even mention that. Seems like the last place in the world a manufacturer would want to invest hundreds of millions of dollars.

I guess the advantages outweigh the disadvantages? :iono:
I wouldn't want to hijack this thread any longer... suffice to say that there's a lot of layers to decisions such as this. But one thing's for sure: If you want your cars to be less expensive, this is the only way to do it.

While living in Texas, I am so close to Mexico right?
Since I've been to Mexico multiple times I can honestly tell you..
I'd never buy a car that has a VIN from Mexico.
I think funding their corruption, Creating more means for them to commit crimes, and financially backing a country that is so volatile, It's not something I want to do.

Being that I'm from Mexico and have lived here almost all my life, I would say I'm closer than you are, right?
Since I've been in Mexico more times (and likely to more regions) than you, I can honestly tell you...
The statement that you made above is not only pretty ignorant (and slightly offensive if you think about it), it's also completely off-topic, as I said before. I will gladly carry on discussing this subject if you want, but please let's do it in a more appropriate thread. Thanks.
PS: You're free to do with your money as you please. That's usually the best way to exercise democracy. Even words can get in the way sometimes.
