Cats :-(

OK, this is an extremely odd issue that I never really ever thought I would be asking about. There are some neighborhood cats that have sometimes taken to sleeping/hanging out on the roof of my Yaris at night. I have noticed "spots" on the roof of my Yaris that resist cleaning. I have washed and scrubbed, but they are still there. What is this, and what can I do to clean them off?

Clay bar? Diluted vinegar solution?

To keep them off, put some cheap packing tape upside down on the roof. After a few days they should learn

Maybe try a good dose of paste wax? :iono:

polish or pre-wax > clay bar > wax

Then go buy yourself a car cover.

I really like cats, but wish they would find somewhere else to hang out.

Definitely irritating, but at least the cat is sleeping in a place that is easy to see. The car I had available to drive when I was 16 (an extra car my dad had) was a Firebird. The engine bay would accommodate a 400ci V8, but the car had a 'salvage yard?' 326 V8 under the hood. Various cats liked to sleep on the top of the air filter housing. In cool weather, I'd always slap the top of the hood before starting the car (to awaken any cat that might be asleep atop the housing).

Your just lucky the cats have not started to scratch your paint. I've got four areas of my Yaris that have sets of three scratch's, like a cat is trying to slow down as the slide off my car.:confused:

ok so if you do the tape trick you have to video tape this and post it so we can watch it

after you've cleaned and waxed the car, go to Home Depot or Lowes, and get the dog/cat repellant for lawns. It's a pepper powder that will keep the cat as far away from your roof as it can, once it's tried to alight onto your roof. I had the same problem and dusted my roof and the cat has NEVER come near the car again. It totally bothers their noses and they absolutely detest that so kills the problem in one shot. the dust did not affect my paint at all, and I have a black sand pearl finish and it's just fine. Wear a dust mask when you sprinkle it, or you will know why the animals do not like to go near it. :=)

Yet another update: Simply sprinkling or dusting a small amount of ground pepper purchased from the grocery store on the roof and hood every so often has completely repelled the neighborhood cats from hanging out. I like this inexpensive, humane, and effective solution. Thanks for all the input.
