View Full Version : Official Toyota Thailand accessories for Yaris Hatch & Sedan

I picked up some official brochures from Toyota detailing the aftermarket accessories they offer for our cars. The vast majority of them should be interchangeable with Yarii from other countries.

For the hatch:

http://www.etimago.com/yaris/accessories/yaris3.jpg
http://www.etimago.com/yaris/accessories/yaris4.jpg

And the sedan:
http://www.etimago.com/yaris/accessories/vios1.jpg
http://www.etimago.com/yaris/accessories/vios2.jpg

Please keep in mind the sedan (Vios) was only launched here 2 weeks ago, there should be more stuff over time

Here's some important information:

With regards to the hatchback, the only things that would NOT fit on US-style cars are the rear bumper mudguards/lips (US rear bumpers are deeper) as well as the floor mats (RHD vs LHD, same thing for the sedan). I'm also not sure how the bluetooth handsfree kit interconnects with the stock stereo, and if it's in any way possible to make it work over there. Also, obviously, side visors will only fit if you have a 5-door version.

For the sedan, I am not really familiar enough yet with the differences between Thai spec and US spec, from what I see, on the outside, the main difference is the rear reflector on the bumper:
http://www.etimago.com/yaris/accessories/Image121.jpg

The overall shape of the bumper seems to be the same, though?

The interior panel set is very nice in person, it's a glossy, patterned plastic, not carbon fiber look but quite close:

http://www.etimago.com/yaris/accessories/Image147.jpg

The chrome-ringed fog lights are real classy too!

Pricing wise, the retail prices are there, although I do not know if I can expect to get any kind discount from Toyota, even if we do a group buy for some of them. One problem is that the exchange rate for the Thai Baht has been dropping pretty fast over the past months, so it may make things a little more expensive for you guys. As a rule of thumb, at the moment you should divide those prices by 32 to get the price in US dollars. I'll be going to a dealership at some point and try to haggle a bit  Please also understand that I may probably take a bit of a markup on these prices if necessary, but I'm reasonable, I'll settle for 100% profit

Shipping is a potentially expensive proposition. For the smaller stuff, I can use the post office EMS service (Express Mail), and if we set up groub buys, I can send to a single member in the US who can then redistribute, that should cut down individual costs quite a bit. For bigger, irregular-shaped pieces pieces, such as skirts, window visors, etc, I may not be able to ship by post, so maybe by DHL, or I can contact a shipping company and see if we can't arrange something.

There are other parts which are interesting, but are not official toyota aftermarket accessories, such as the LED side mirrors which are discussed in another thread. I am still waiting on my friend's wife's friend who works at a dealership to get back to me with info on these, but it looks like I will have to go find out myself.

Sedan owners, if you noticed, the front grille on our models has a very stylish dash of chrome across it, would anyone be interested in those?

Lastly, there's the question of paint matching for external accessories. Although we have a lot of paint codes in common, there are several colors in the US/Canada/etc that are not available here. Bayou Blue, Copper Orange, Jade Green, for example. I will get a list of the paint codes available here, but if you notice, most parts are also available just primered, so you can have them painted locally.

So, overall, it looks like a lot of options have been opened for you poor accessories-starved people  Of course, if this is to happen, we're gonna need to relay on our legendary team of guinea pigs and DIYers to confirm what fits and what doesn't

I personally don't see the use of it  Illuminated key hole, on the other hand, would be useful!

Thomas Can you find out how much it would be to ship a spoiler here to the states? They cost about 1/2 as much there as they do in Canada ($155USD in Thailand compared to $300USD in Canada)

eTiMaGo
03-28-2007, 12:36 PM
I don't think it;s the exact same spoiler though, take a look at my car pics, the slope of my spolier kinda follows the curve of the roof, from what I see of the canadian RS spoiler, that one curves up a little bit.

But anyway if that's fine with you I think it could be shipped by post, price will depend on the weight, but I can see it costing $100 or so.

Black Yaris

well shit if we get a few ppl that want them it would be more cost effective to get them from thailand, and it is a Toyota part prepainted :)

I'm extremely interested in the Premium Floor Mats (9), Sporty shift knob (1), Scuff plate (5), and the Ignition key light (3). If you can get ahold of these things I'm in.

eTiMaGo

forget the floor mats, they're designed for right hand drive cars, i doubt they'd fit correctly in yours. the rest should certainly not be a problem!

The GB would bea good idea... what do you think would be cheeper one big package to the US and reshipped or a bunch of smaller packages fron Thailand?

eTiMaGo
03-28-2007, 01:56 PM
definitely one big package. For example, 1kg costs 1200 Baht, 5kg costs 4000 Baht, 10kg costs 7000 Baht. But that's with the postal EMS service. DHL has economical jumbo boxes, up to 25kg (but limited space).

that's the problem with shipping bulky stuff halfway round the world

Anyway, going through a shipping company should be a lot cheaper, but quite possibly slower. I'll be doing more research on that.

Black Yaris
03-28-2007, 02:04 PM
well if the shipping is super cheep I can wait an extra week or two

Black Yaris

eTiMaGo
03-28-2007, 02:16 PM
a 24 foot container full of parts would be nice

But yeah, let's say a pallet, 100lb maximum. It will help me get a basis on which to judge what's offered locally.

And with that, I shall now say good night, half past midnight here and I need my beauty sleep.

1/32 of the price in the brochure as etimago stated on the first post.

Some one could translate the prices to US$ for the entire list using the 1/32 conversion? (don't have time to do it myself)

Hahaha I agree!

Well, the way it looks so far, the illuminated keylight seems to be the most sought after. The way I see it, we should do a first group buy around this item.
I'll have to go to Toyota and see if they can give us a group discount, but if they say 10 pieces minimum, then we should base around that. Then, if other people want other stuff, and that it could fit into the same box (spoiler's gonna be hard, but I'm thinking smaller stuff first like trim pieces, fog lights, etc), then we can do one big order to start things off. What do you all think?

I found out why this is so hard to do. It has to do with the limited amount of space under the liftback between the axle and the bumper. Basically, in order to do a center mounted exhaust you would have to put some bends in there that would be detrimental to overall performance and flow. It is actually easier to do on a sedan because although the stock exhaust is the same on both cars, the sedan has more room before the rear bumper to play with. Therefore you could use a more modest bend to achieve the same result.

Personally, I like looks but I am in it for performance and a center mounted exhaust will not perform as well on this car as a normal exhaust would, so when the time comes I will be going with a regular old exhaust. Its unfortunate because I think the center mounted exhaust idea plays well with the asymmetrical design of this car, but oh well.

And back on this topic, I just came back from the local dealership.

They can't offer much of a discount on official accessories, just 10% off the listed price. BUT, there is also an extra 7% for VAT on top of the listed/discounted price. And, even if I get 10 of a certain item, they will not offer a lower price, so group buys for a specific items are off.

Anyway, here is the revised pricing, converted to US dollars for your convenience, and with annotations:

http://www.etimago.com/yaris/accessories/yaris2.jpg
http://www.etimago.com/yaris/accessories/yaris3.jpg
http://www.etimago.com/yaris/accessories/yaris4.jpg

http://www.etimago.com/yaris/accessories/vios2.jpg

Now please read the following! Very important!

These prices do NOT include shipping.

The best way to work out shipping would be to bunch up everybody's stuff into one 25kg DHL Jumbo box which I would then ship to one member in the US (and one in Australia/Europe if there is enough demand), and then that member would split the order and redistribute to the other members. Each of these Jumbo boxes cost about $200 to ship, so, the more items in these shipments, the cheaper the individual shipping would become.

The biggest item I think that should be sent by post would be the rear spoilers for HB and sedan. I'm quite sure I could wrap up 3-4 boxes together and send them as one package to be more cost-effective.

Many of the exterior items are offered either painted or unpainted. But, the painted color choices are limited to black, silver, dark silver (meteorite metallic basically).

So, now we just need to know, who's in, and what would you like?

1E7 is my paint code.

eTiMaGo
04-15-2007, 08:36 AM
OK, this is getting confusing... I've managed to find the paint codes for the liftback here:

Platinum metallic (light silver) (1DO)
Black mica (209) - matches US black sand pearl
Mercury silver (1F8) - matches US Meteorite Metallic

For the sedan, they have

Light Silver (1D4)
Medium Silver (1F8) - matches LB's Meteorite Metallic
Black Mica (209) - matches LB's Black Sand Pearl

As you can see, the silvers don't match to the paint codes reported by members here. What I do not know is how close are the colors, in other words, can a Thai 1D4 silver match with a US 1E7 silver.

What I know of these mystery colors is that 1D4 and 1DO are offered on a range of Toyotas in the US, just search for them in http://www.toyotareference.com/

So, could someone with a silver sedan, and someone with a silver LB do a visual comparison with those paint codes?

Or, it may be best for you guys to get the unpainted ones to be sure you have a matching paint job.

Guys after researching this subject further, It is nothing like the color the Thai's have. That color is referred to as Titanium White Pearl, or Galactic Streak here on the 2006 Rav4. Again 1E7 and 1D4 are similar but are not exact color matches.

Again the Thais have much cooler names for their colors then us. Their Silver Streak Mica is named Lunar Mist.

Very good link there!

Anyway, it looks like there's no way I can guarantee the paints will match, even if the codes are the same. For this reason, I would highly recommend that you guys get the parts painted at your location.

So, it looks like we are good to go, I am just awaiting the go-ahead from YarisBueller now

The side mirrors are not official Toyota ones, I still have not confirmed a good pricing and quality yet, so they will be separate, but if timing allows, could be shipped with the official toyota stuff.
