Hi - I just bought a 07 Yaris hatchback and the rear lock assembly is not working. If I open the hatch it won't shut properly, therefore I can't use the hatch. Does anyone have or know of any easy step-by-step instructions for replacing this myself? The car is bare bones manual everything - I have searched everywhere and can't seem to find anything on this - even the service manual doesn't seem to make to much sense and seems to mainly deal with the power locks - any help would be super appreciated!! Please, please help! Thank you!

Scott

Check out this thread for my DIY on replacing it with a Scion IQ Switch. It shows exactly what you need as far as getting to it and removing it. Before you go through that though, check to make sure that the bolts that mount it to the bottom of the hatch are tight and that the two bolts that mount the hasp that it catches on are tight as well.

LOL! Thanks guys! How hard is it to get the inside hatch panel off? The toyota dealer said it would cost me 65.00 just to take it off to see what the problem is - ugh! Thanks again for the help!

Very easy - Just get your fingers under the bottom edge of the panel and pull. Work your way up and then lift if off at the top.

Sorry for all the questions... Do the clips break easy? Thanks again!

The hatch panel ones typically don't (unlike the front door panel ones and the interior panel ones).
