Well, I've been wanting to take the dive into HID. Especially since my awesome GF just smashed my unopened PIAA GT-X. Any body picked these up yet??

I ordered some Osram Silverstars anyway I haven't heard anyone complain about those bulbs. Not hids but I'll give these a try and then look into a hid set up a little later.

Let me know when you are ready, FYI Silverstars are good bulbs but generally last about a year due to the fact that they burn hot to produce that bright light that folks love!

here's the problem with HID's installed into the yaris...

the stock headlamps were not designed to emit such a bright beam and what happens is the light goes all over the place rather than it being a nicely projected light. i've tried an HID setup already. it didn't work out. the only way to make it work would be to retrofit projectors into the housings. this is expensive.

i repeat: the stock headlamps are not designed for HID's. put them on and you will have to aim them so low to prevent blinding oncoming drivers that you won't even be able to see further than 20 feet in front of you.

you have been warned.

I don't think Chris used projectors on his car. They look great from what I can tell. Maybe best to retrofit the projectors. Someone else is selling those on here as well.

Ok so we have the hid haters identified, there are always a few
I have also turned a few around as well!
Here are the basics for those who might be interested …

All conversion kits not exclusive just to F1Spec kits utilize rebased D2R bulbs which basically means that the xenon bulb has a new base to fit in your housing H4, 9006...etc. F1Spec stands behind their kits and a great folks to work with which is why I carry their brand. If you want to source out OEM ballasts as suggested by Sam07Yaris be prepared for a retro job as OEM D2S or D2R bulbs for that manner do not fit right into a H4 housing also the new ballasts still needs to get wired up…not handy for somebody looking for plug and play simplicity.

Main thing you want to look out for is never buy a hid kit without glare shields on the H4 bulbs!
Without this small shield to help control the new found light I would have to agree with techmoe the kits are worthless! To make matters worse some manufactures have shields on their bulbs that don’t really work, I have seen and used such bulbs in the past and they have turned off a few people on hid kits who don’t understand like everything else not everything is created equally all my posts you see come from actual experience and I am not trying to waste time beating around the bush.
Usually in these threads the next thing that will come up is glare and how you will blind traffic so let address that right quick, glare is mostly measured by comparing say a new BMW 745 to a Yaris with a $200 hid kit setup about 5 feet from a garage door and pointing out that the light does not have the razor sharp pattern of our German friend, 100% true taken in this manner it is easy to see what an actual projector setup will do for you and if you have the money, time, and usually a second set of headlights to use while you do it a retrofit is an awesome way to go like techmoe said and the outcome looks great but make no mistake still 100% not DOT approved and fix it ticket ready here in the states. So in conclusion to my rant in my experience the people who want a kit generally buy a kit, the guys that want a retro work towards the retro denouncing all other methods of lighting, and the straight hid haters’ just clog up posts..[/Rant Off]

If anybody has questions on these kits or just hid conversion kits in general feel free to post them up I’m always happy to help or shed some light as it may be on your topic!

so if we buy your kit and are dissatisified, can we return it for a full refund?

I have heard some people saying the HIDs aren't legal. I was reading your statement about the fix it ticket. Does this apply to retro fitting only or also the kit shown as plug and play? Would I be at risk of getting a fix it ticket with this kit? I am still in the air on eventually doing this but I don't want to retro fit. I want something like this but I'd still really like to see it installed on a yaris which I haven't yet.

People shouldn't be hating on the vendors or their products.

I'm with you on that one Brick. Hmm, how dare those Vendors try and hooks us up!! Makes no sense to me.

On another note, I'm quit interested in your product and it seems to be a descent kit. There are SOOO many different brands out there, why should I buy the 1SPEC? Also, are your H4 kits hi/lo beams? HID low beam and halogen hi beam?

Ok, this is the part where you sell me on your product! haha

btw, thank you for supporting our site!

No, I offer a warranty on parts but after an item has been used I can't accept it back.

Hid's are only legal on the streets in cars that came with hids from the factory period, this applies anywhere in the US. So plug and play or retrofit they are not street legal.
This being said I have never been flashed with my hids on my xB, I run 6000K or 8000K Hi/Lo's (4300-8000K are safe to not attract too much attention my favorite is 6K) I have the lights adjusted slightly down both beams still hit the road further out then the stock halogens and the glare shields keep everything in check..if you don't want to be pulled over stock is the way to go..lowered cars with exhausts, bright lights, rims, tint are just asking to be checked out..cali loves to hand out fix-it tickets  never stoped me before but it's a decision that is up to the person modding thier car...btw most aftermarket halogen bulbs are not DOT approved and are technically illegal as well!

Why buy F1Spec? Cause I sell them...
Actually I ran them for a few months before offering them to make sure they didn't crap out constantly and have been happy with the results mine have been in for about a year and I have them on 24-30 hours a week...I support the kits after install and I offer a 2 year warranty! I deal directly with F1 so if something does come up I can handle it quickly alot of "cheap" kits have to send parts back to see if they are covered leaving you in the dark..and some have no warranty at all.

As for bulbs... in the H4 BiXenon is the way to go they have an awesome glare shield and you get full functioning hid high and low beams...downside is they are pricey compared to the standard kits..
F1Spec as well as everbody elses Hi/Lo setup with the halogen high beam will really only do low beam as the high (halogen) does not provide enough output to drive by...alot of people wire it up to the parking lights and use it as a city light..so if a high beam is important go for the Bixenon, otherwise do a Hi/Lo kit you will be pleased with the change either way!

BTW Thanks for the support

So....."city lights" are the parking lights and and high beam halogen of the HID kit turned on? Sorry, just tryin to learn as much as posible before I purchase. Does F1 offer a H4 bixenon kit? If so, how much is that kit runnin?

What I was trying to get at is the fact that the Hi/Lo kit has the xenon low beam that is great, but when you flip to highs the low beam goes off and the halogen high beam goes on the halogen bulb does not have anywhere near the power of the xenon so it is not a functional high beam, to tie into the parking lights you need to wire the halogen bulb up.. Yes we offer Bixenon click here and check out pricing and more kit info (http://www.365motorwerks.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=91)

Also if somebody wants to be the guinea pig here on Yaris World just PM me..I have been selling these for a while on other forums and locally but I understand hesitation to a new product...then maybe we can get :coolpics:

It's all good, you are intitled to an opinion. I state what is going on up front and answer all questions so there is no confusion later on the buyer can choose to purchase or not based upon that I'm not forcing anybody's hand.

What was wrong with the kit that you were unsatisfied with? Was it just the look of the HID itself or instal or what? Tryin to get all aspects.

In my experienc companies will not refund opened items. Especially when it comes to electrical. Not for a full refund anyway. Do you think because he knew the quality of the kit that he offered the full refund? Not tryin to knock you or the vendor, just curious.

i believe i was his first customer to try out the HID kit for a yaris. he's sold plenty of HID kits on other forums of other makes and models of vehicles. when i showed him the pictures of my yaris with the HID kit installed, he asked if i had installed it correctly. the beam pattern was all over the place.

if you decide to purchase an HID kit from this vendor in this thread, i hope you are happy with it...

Well, I've been toying with the idea of a HID kit for a while. Done research. PM'd back and forth with 365motorworks. Might as well give it a shot. There are soooo many brands out there I'm sure you know. I don't wanna drop 5 bills for a kit and these seem to be right inbetween. They're affordable and seem to be of good quality. I'll keep everyone posted on the results for sure! Thanks for the insite.

p.s. on another note, do you run txyarisclub.com? I emailed them/you the other day. I'm pretty excited to get somethin goin in TX for the Yaris minded.
