I was lookin at my yaris today and i found theres an area that lost its protective gloss.....wax, whatever u wanna call it. The paint hasnt been scratched nor peeled. That area just a matt finish and its really obvious.

What can i use to restore it to put the gloss back on it?? Im really lost.....

you thinking it is actually the clear coat or just wax, have you applied anything to the car recently, like alcohol or something that would have stripped the wax, just get some polish-turtle wax or somthing and follow the instructions

^ what he said, if that doesn't improve the finish it's likely the clear coat has been damaged, in which case you'll need to see a body shop.

No DIY's for restoring the clear coat unfortunately, you really want to go see a body shop to get it fixed properly.

Any clues as to what caused it?

Any chance you could lay it on Toyota as a warranty repair?

I wouldn't think it would cost a lot, what body part is it, probably all of the clear coat can be lightly sanded away from that part and then totally resprayed, I wouldn't think a touch up would hold up very well, I however am no expert on this, I hope it isn't your roof or something big, and fender or bumper would probably much better

for now some very thick shine should camo it, i would think
