View Full Version : Factory rear fog lamp ?

I have a 2005 Vitz RS (JDM). What I thought was just my rear reflectors also seem to be the fog light. In my Japanese manual there is a diagram showing the replacement of the bulb there. Also i have seen another RS with those lights lit up. I spent a few mins looking around in my car and could not see any easy way of checking if there is a bulb or any wiring there.

Anyone have any advice on how I can check it ?

Its the ones on the bumper.

Peek up under the bumper and see if there is a wire going to one or both of them. I think that the reflectors are only replaced with lights in certain markets.

The ones that you have are the rear reflector-type.
You can buy the rear fog lamps but mostly likely you'll have to wire them up yourself. The rear fogs look like these.

Were can you buy the car side harness? Or does anyone know how they function? Are they essentially extra running/brake light? Or is there a switch for them like Audi?

On the Yaris / Vitz from areas where they are factory installed, they are controlled by the rear fog light switch and relay, which are separate from the front fog light switch and relay. I appears also that the rears can only be turned on when the headlight is on and the front's are on.

So I have the rear fog lights and I have the rear fog light harness what I essentially want to do is make them work like factory the problem is my car side plug only has two wires the fog light harness has all 10 if I remember correctly wires pinned to the connector. How can I obtain this switch and relay? Everything is installed (fog and harness wise only thing that works is 1 of the 2 license plate lights as I have the JDM bumper)

I should also add I have factory fogs and already removed my DRL Relay (ground out fog wire). Does the switch give option to one or the other? Or both at same time?
