I have just purchased my 2005 yaris and when i turn the engine on both engine coolant lights come on (as stated in the user manual) however the red light goes out after approximately 10 seconds and the blue stays on for about 2 miles. The owners manual doesnt clearly state if this is a really problem or just means the coolant needs topping up, I have checked coolant and appears full although the overflow bottle is slightly below level.

Could somebody please help as I'm worried I will be driving on the motorway and break down!!!

Woman on her own.

The Cool LED stays On until the coolant temperature is 130 degrees F on my 2007 Sedan.
It is normal.

If you have an automatic transmission it may not go into high gear until the Cool LED goes out.
On mine until the Cool LED goes out. It will not shift into high gear. Forth gear in my Yaris.

Yeah.. the echo/yarid does not have a temperature gauge, so relies on the light to tell you if the engine is cool or overheating.

The echo have a blue light.. how i miss it. The yaris has a green light :(
