I have a TRD CAI which looks like this (fender type, seems working awesome)

I want smth that looks like K&N one, with filter under the good and nice separating "cowl"

Question: is there a way to buy that cowl separately? Really want to have my filter under the hood but still be separated from the hot engine.

As an option might try to sell mine for like 100 bucks and buy K&N.

Opinions?

Thanks

IMO, that "cowl" you are asking about only has some benefit when sitting idle.

Reminded me of this video (you can stop watching at around 8:10)

I like my K&N. I think my incorrect sized exhaust piping made me lose a bunch of torque in the bottom end of the RPM band, and the K&N brought it back (don't really know if it will provide much improvements with a stock exhaust). I hated having my stock intake back on for three weeks.

Anywho, I wrapped my K&N pipe (and since this pic, the engine side of the heat shield, left the filter side exposed).

Before, touching the pipe and heat shield after driving, they felt hot. With this heat reflective wrap, I have no problem touching anything.
