Sorry, but it seems my poor yaris did not come with it's manual. Was wondering if anyone knows how to turn off the maint req light?

Make sure your thing is set on Trip 1 I think.
turn off ur car
open door
close door
while holding down the thingy (trip 1)
go on that last click before you turn on ur engine
make sure ur still holding the button...wait for like 20 secs..u will see zeros appearing..wait untill its all 0. n ur set..just hold it for 30 secs.
If im wrong correct me..

Its either trip 1 or just staying on your ODO reading..

i had mine on Trip A, took the key out. pressed and held the "odo" button down, put the key in and switched it to on while pressing the odo button, waited for the dotted lines to disappear, and voi-la, the maintenance light went off. just did it like 4 hours ago. hope that helps.

There is a sticky in the DIY section that explains this.

First make sure you changed your oil, then if you are realy lazy like me, go to the dealership and make one of the service advisors do it for you, they are usually just standing there anyway... they just love to see a Yaris at my dealership and swarm towards it

Now does the light come on every 5000 miles according to the odo or 5000 miles since you last reset it?

Black Yaris

5000 since last reset

oh, i would have thought that it comes back on according to the maintenance book...if that's the case, then mine will go back on 15,000

Black Yaris

nope, only comes on 5000 after previous reset, i proved this on my last oil change by resetting early, and delt with the light untill I hit 10k

 actually I thought about doing this, but am to lzy to drive to the dealer for a small thing like this. Usually I'd be able to figure it out without the manua, but seems it is done a bit differently on this car.First make sure you changed your oil, then if you are realy lazy like me, go to the dealership and make one of the service advisors do it for you, they are usually just standing there anyway... they just love to see a Yaris at my dealership and swarm towards it

i wonder if you reset it at 10k it would cancel the 11k timer and it will go off at 15k?

Don't take much effort to do a "search" either.

....I was refering to ItsMyDaily quote.
Hey, I know this is a forum to ask questions and get answers/information........but I see (and so do You) the same questions asked over and over again; how do you turn/reset the maint light off; what kind of oil and oil filter should I use; which is the best; what kind of gas mileage do you get etc. I know the "search" thingy would help cause there is a shitload of answers in there for all these same questions. Ok, maybe it's just as easy to post a new thread, I don't know. Maybe there just isn't anything else to ask on a Yaris :iono: ?
Or Maybe I'm just ranting because I'm in a bad mood and getting bored :eyebulge: ?! I need a drink.

genius idea!!!!!

new computers will now require a "search button required" indicator to light up when the user is about to post a stupid question on a forum!

I should patent it and become a millionnaire... how many people use AOL anyway?

I tried a search buddy, but these forum searches almost never give you what you want. By all means if you find them in the search then post them here please.
I also went through many pages of the DIY section, and gave up after a while since i was coming up on nothing I needed.

Also thankx for those that responded, it worked

If I find them, post them? Ok, here's one.......try four above your thread you posted. The one that says...."Resetting Service Required Light".
Correction for eTiMaGo, users do not post stupid questions on this forum . Just incase, I need to clarify.......I was not insinuating (did I spell it right?) that "anyone" was posting a stupid question/s. Also, Kaotic Lazagna (great name :w00t: ) ......SOME, NOT all people in America are lazy  .
Like I said, I was ranting :moon:
(All the above are opinions and/or suggestions)
Thnx. anyway....

The last time I needed to do this I had forgotten (from the previous time) how to do it, so I did a YouTube search. A video does exist on YouTube that is very succinct and I was able to quickly reset the light.

Does anyone know if this reset procedure works on the 3rd generation 2012's?
