hi all,

I found a wicked steering wheel wrap online http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Free-shipping-New-Vios-Yaris-RAV4-car-special-hand-stitched-black-leather-steering-wheel-cover-leather/1230814167.html

looks much better than anything Ive found on ebay... problem is aliexpress seems to get really bad reviews from what ive read online. Has anyone ever ordered from them or seen another good cover? this one appeals to me over the wheelskins style ones because it is customized to the shape of the wheel and doesn't have the nasty seams at 9, 3, and 6 o'clock.

help! lol

I ordered some items from AliExpress before. Super cheap and for a reason. Not the best material made. Most of it is Chinese knock off's. People order bulk items from them and sell individually on ebay non stop. Just look up thier lug nuts. compare those prices with the ones off ebay. its nuts

oh yeah.. i decided to take the non-perforated leather. i HOPE i did not make a bad decision..

jcboy
10-21-2013, 03:14 PM
oh no you didn't. the plain leather if genuine feels really great.

first thing to check if it's genuine leather is the material underneath--as it says genuine leather on the ad. it should be the hairy thing and not the somewhat-white-fine-net-like-material (a material used to control the stretching of the synthetic leather).

i can post pics of my steering wheel wrapped by an auto upholstery shop if you want--but i'm also going to watch out for yours. good luck!

I'm not sure if i made a mistake to take the non-perforated version of the wrap, but eitherway, as long as i get it wrapped haha

Complete instructions are in Chinese only. But the images are self explanatory if you can't read Chinese.

Been a few days, have you gotten this installed yet?

IllusionX
11-20-2013, 02:59 PM
No.. it's not installed yet. Temps are getting colder and having a garage full doesn't help.

As i still come around the forum during work time, family issues kept me from doing other stuffs.

patience guys.. :)

You plan to do it in the car? Removing the steering wheel takes 2 minutes

IllusionX
12-04-2013, 08:32 AM
removing the steering wheel is not really an option.. i have a broken tab that holds the airbag/horn.

anyways.. i did have a test fit the day i got it..

They are part of my PrecisonPower 356CS component speakers...

http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_17121_Precision-Power-PPI-356CS.html

They are basically re-branded A/D/S 346CS.. PrecisonPower purchased A/D/S.

I have an extra set of A/D/S 345CS, if you want i can sell the tweeters. One of the woofer have a punctured rubber, someone put a screwdriver through it.

Thanks

Was just curious

Punctured surround (rubber) piece is not a big deal. Happens very often in car-audio .. kinda typical rookie mistake. Should work just fine.

Yeah... i've finally got to install it.. took me about 6 hours to do. Maybe because i'm too rookie. I've also made the string snap 3 times, so that made me start over again a couple times...

here is the install progress..

It shouldn't be very hard, but maybe because it was my first time.. it took a while to get it right. And i also didn't stitch it the right way.. kinda went on my own. I also have black on black, so it really doesn't show the flaws and the improper stitching.

You can follow this guide, or search for your own to get the proper stitching pattern.

just an update.. i finally took the Yaris out of the garage today.

i feel the wrap is very slippery, or maybe i'm not used to it because it's made my steering wheel larger?
