My Heater control knob stops at about 2/3 of the way to maximum heat. Getting colder now, can't put fixing it off any longer. Have searched post and not found a way to even get this apart . Thanks for any help on this.

The hot/cold knob moves the damper within the airbox that hides or exposes the heater core. Pop off the passenger glove box and rotate the knob while watching the gear move on the side of the airbox. You can give it gentle assistance from the gear side to see if it will free up (don't apply too much torque to the knob or you will snap the drive cable).
If it does not free up with a bit of assistance then you will need to get at the inside of the airbox to see what the issue is. That requires taking the top of the dash off.
Out of curiosity, you haven't by any chance removed the knob to change the bulb or anything like that?

Thanks for the feedback. I can sort of see that mechanism moving but can't see what's wrong. Have not changed the knob or bulb.

Did you try to give it some assistance?

I cannot get my hand in the space where the actuator is located. Would need to remove the assembly which houses the cabin air filter/fan. I can see it moving from below with a mirror and a flashlight.

That's right, and unfortunately removing them also involved removing the dash top
