Been working wit Fastbrakes.com in an effort to put together a big brake kit for the Yaris.
Since the big rotor kit is no longer available and every other BBK kit is $1200+ I figured I would do some looking around to see what was out there.

As of right now the price for a 12" rotor with 4 pot caliper for almost 1/2 of what the other big brake kits charge. And its not a no name company either.

Just a heads up. Once everything is on the car and tested i'll get some pics up.

Is this just for the front, or does it include rear disc conversion?

Would be nice to have rear ones too... Sometimes its so ugly when the light is shining through my wheels in the back... just a lump of iron to the wheel u know.

Here's all the brake kits I know about:

FRONT
* R Style front big brake kit (re-uses stock calipers, rotors and relocators only) $400
* Front brake kit described above $700-1100 (rotor size, caliper color, rotor style)
* Kido front brake kit $1200-1500 (red or blue calipers, 1 or 2-piece rotors)

REAR
* R Style rear disc conversion kit $695
* Corolla rear disc conversion (not sure on parts or cost, but a couple of people have done it)

Plus some very high-end kits from Japan for the Vitz that we don't even look at because it makes us very sad.

Rear - Also, you can purchase a complete rear axle beam from a Vitz RS. Enviri and I installed one on his car and it was plug and play. He caught an unbelievable deal on his where it was about $450 including shipping from Japan.

This makes me angry. What website did he order it from or did he have a connection?

He has ordered many parts from one particular recycler in Japan.

I have three RunStop rear kits on the way by ocean freight, for anyone interested in that option.
KIDO front kits in stock, new kit from this post on the way for testing and sale. Wilwood, anyone? :)

I didn't mean to sidetrack your thread, but for a more practical rear disc solution the key is the mounting plate for caliper frame. With the Vitz RS rear beam the metal plate that the rear hub mounts to has an ear that sticks out that the caliper frame mounts to. That is the only difference to the entire rear beam.

When Enviri and I installed this on his car we spent some time comparing the two beams and realized that the easiest way to add the ear would be to make a set of hub spacers (like the penguin ones) which have that extra ear. Once that is in place an off the shelf rear disc kit could theoretically be used.

^that's what matrix owners do for their XRS rear disc conversion.

Now does the vitz rs rear disc still use drums for parking brake? I would like to eliminate the drum shoes altogether if possible.

Yes. It has the drum within the hump of the rotor.

It's pretty much the only way to use the emergency brake line, the RunStop kit also uses a hybrid rotor/drum arrangement.

OK, Garm now has them in his store, so where are your pics?

WeeYari, I was out of the country for almost 2 weeks and when I came back the guy I was working with to make the kit work went on vacation or something so I think the kit Garm has was the kit that he was designing to test fit on my car...so i guess Garm went to him after I had talked to him about it and just took them instead.
I guess I should have just kept it secret until it was all actually on the car and what not.

^ That is not what happened at all. Maybe you should ask BEFORE you post crap like that.

I've worked with Brian from FastBrakes.com for over five years. He contacted me about the kit, not the other way around. I asked him specifically if there was any problem with me marketing, testing and advertising the kit. He said no.

If you have a problem, it's with him, not me. And you kinda owe me an apology for your assumptions.

I didnt know you had worked with him for a long time. Figured if you had worked with him for so long there would already be a kit out there. My bad. Sorry for my assumption.
Just looked around, did some research and worked trying to make this happen and approached him about and then he takes it elsewhere cause he doesn't get a response for a week.
