View Full Version : If you're going to buy just one brace, which one?

I've only begun to think about frame stiffening bars, strut tower braces, mid braces, underbraces, etc. and I wonder which one is worth buying if I'm only going to afford one. My goal is slightly improved handling in corners.
Or is it better to invest in larger wheels (mine are 16 inch), or is it better to not buy any braces and save up for a new set of stiffer front end shock absorbers, fuel etc.?
My (uneducated) guess is that the front strut tower braces are the most important. :smoking:
But maybe longer wheel diameter is the way to go?:iono:

Whiteline sway bar is the best suspension modification you can make to your car, period.
All other braces are less functional than that main one.
After that, tires! and after that, springs and struts/shocks.

Rear sway bar/brace FTW!! The most effective part that money can buy. :)

+1 on whiteline sway bar
I did the sway bar and springs. Body roll all but disappeared. That is what you want.
I also went with the white line.

Only springs? You kept stock shocks?
Cuz I'm thinking about getting those tuv approved Eibach springs that lower the ride 2.5 cms... Along with the rear sway bar and wheel spacers... should be enough work on the suspension for a regular daily commuter, no? :)
Thanks!

Rear sway bar. I snagged a TRD and have been very happy.
Yes, I kept the stock shocks. I am down about 1.5" (or 3.81cm)
I did it for the stiffness, not necessarily the low (but it is nice).

Yes exactly... I wasn't thinking about changing the springs initially... but the nose-up/nose-down movement when accelerating/shifting is really getting on my nerves.
Did changing the springs improve this noticeably for you?
Thanks so much :)
PS: I'm used to a RWD BMW 5-series, which was my daily commuter previously... so maybe I'm extra-sensitive about this behavior.
