We all love modifying and spending some much of our hard earned money on our vehicles. Why not clean and maintain them Properly???

I always ask people how many buckets they use when they wash their car, 90% of the time they response is .....1

If you are currently using a 1 bucket / or 2 bucket system ( one for car and separate one for wheels) Please consider the following!

The 3 & 4 bucket system is where its at, 2 for the Car and a possible 2 for wheels. I would base it off how dirty you allow your exterior to get and simply what tools and techniques used. Remember every time your car is touched with a mitt, towel or microfiber there is a potential for scratched and swirls.

When using a Multi-bucket system:

Pick up 3 (5Gallon buckets) and equip them with Grit guards. For example 2 white and 1 orange, this will eliminate confusion and keep you from using wheel contaminants on your paint ever again.I personally have an extra 8L orange bucket that is used for my wheel brushes and woolies that way it too is never mistaken.

Why Grit guards??? They will minimize the mitt from picking up dropped dirt and debris that gets transferred into the bucket. Tip they can also be used to clean pads and mitts at the end of the washing ritual ;)

Extra info: Home depot sells 5G buckets and inside dimension is 11-1/4 inches. If the grit guard you order is a bit small as most are 10.5 or so, use a zap strap on one side or both to make it fit snug and keep from falling out.

I recently picked up 2 from

Yup, the cleaner the suds are the less chance to damage your paint by dragging dirt through it...
Sometimes I use two mitts so one of them is soaking in the rinse water so the dirt gets loose and drops into the water while I wash with the cleaner one.

At least two of the fees that are added to all of the MUDs around here have increased 600% in the last few years. It doesn't amount to much, but it still p***** me off. I decided my own little protest would be to wash my car at one of those 'car stationary/manipulate wand with your arms/self serve places. I now prefer that method.
