Retail: $763.00 with installation xtra. One in the country in L.A. Dealer feels sorry for me, so price is reduced to $650.00. One stone chip resulted in a foot long crack. Love the car (38.6 ave. mpg in real world daily driving), but hope this will not be typical of "new model" parts down the road. So, be careful with that front glass!!

Wow... hang on a minute... that doesn't seem right. Don't you have a place like Diamond Auto Glass near you??

I used them when my new truck needed a new windshield. I haven't had a single problem with it. Looks just like the origional one. I think I paid $200 for it installed

Don't most insurance agencies cover 1 windshield per year for free or something. Not even a deductable? Mine does.

Yeah, you should be able to get that fixed for free, tell them that a big truck hit your winshield and get the insur to fix it for you, mine does that its not a hassle and they send a guy out to your work or house and he puts it in for you. Unless you broke the windshield yourself you shouldn't have to pay for it, or try that glass place I show on tv the other day its a national company, but I can't remember what it was called, but I et it was what bikergal suggested Diamond Triumph Auto Glass, they are really good.
Best of luck, with hopefully you will get a good deal.

The same thing happened to me the first week-end I took possession of my MINI Cooper. The windshield was cheaper to replace though! How can it be so expensive for the Yaris ?!
I think this is one of the disadvantages of smaller cars. Windshields are designed at a steeper angle to create more cabin space, but the risk of having the windshield damaged by road debris is way higher.
I usually try to keep a distance on the highway but it doesn't always work!

I thought insurance companies replaced windshields for free as well.
Interesting.

Interesting.
It all depends on your deductible. I have raised mine now since it helped lower my rates.
I know for sure you can have it as high as 1000$ (every damage under 1000$, you have to pay).

Thanks to all that replied. Yes, retail is $763.00 AND it will need a new seal and installation for more money. My salesperson went to bat for me and got it from Toyota parts dept. with the seal for $615.00 and another $200.00 to install. Some of the the suggested private glass companies tell me the car is too new to find the glass on the aftermarket, and that it is a "dealer only" item. I have a $500.00 deductable on the glass and I just changed insurance companies (I haven't even made a payment!), so I am reluctant to pursue that option. I had the crack sealed by a glass repair company and while it won't spread anymore, you can still see it, especially in bright sun. I bought the car to save money, so I probably will wait untill it becomes available on the aftermarket.

I would wait to get it fixed then. That is way too much $$$ right now. $763.00 total for a new windshield? That is Crazy!!!!! Did you ask if one of the aftermarket guys can order one for you? As long as you are not due for your inspection (which you shouldn't be) then just leave it be for now and before you go for your next inspection get it fixed

Yes Yasir, you're right. I suggest while replacing the front glass, you must do some research and compare the pricing before choosing any service provider.
