So I installed lowered springs this weekend. I was reattaching the front struts to the frame via that ONE NUT (you know the one), when BAM! The torque wrench and offset wrench suddenly gave way. The top of the strut is fractured, but I think its still drivable........

gonna need a new shock..

can you get the nut off still? use some vice grips on the threaded part (its finished anyway).

before you do that, if you can take it to a shop that has a compressor and use a impact gun first. It may still buzz right off with an impact gun. Threads don't look destroyed, and may not have torqued it too much before it broke.

It is fine ...until you need to take the struts off.

The damage is above the nut that secures it. It is not harmful to the function of the shock nor unsafe.

Drive it and enjoy it.

I'd replace it :x I'm sure it'd be fine, but deep down It'd bother me knowing it's broke lol

Tokico blues are the best upgraded strut/shock for the money. Reds are adjustable but cost significantly more.
