Hi guys,

My beloved 08 Yaris starts to give me trouble. The passenger "airbag off" light is always on and the "seat belt" light is blinking.

A little thought: I followed CTScott's instruction to install heating pads. Did I screw the wires? Right after the installation of heating pads everything worked fine. This symptom came at 1 month after the installation.

Any advices will be appreciated.

Thank you

Check the two connectors on the passenger occupancy classification ECU, which is the black box mounted to the bottom of the passenger seat. That guy is not happy, which is why you are getting that error pattern for the indicators.

Thanks for the prompt reply. I will give it a check at noon when it is not freezing cold outside. It is -34 C, and -50 C with windchill in Winnipeg.

I just used OBDII scanner and found no error code but the airbag warning light is solid on in the cluster panel.

OBDII can only read engine codes. You would need a Toyota specific scanner to read the SRS codes.

Thank you CTScott! The problem is gone.
When I check the two connectors on the passenger occupancy classification ECU (underneath the Passenger seat), the bigger was a tiny bit of loose. When I push it in a little bit I hear a click sound. Then the problem solved.
Thanks for the accurate diagnosis and prompt advices!
