View Full Version : keyless entry system fault
Looking for a bit of help, my keyless entry system has developed a fault after changing the remote battery.
The key still unlocks and starts the car but, When I walk up to the car the actuator engages 5 or 6 times before the lights flash and I can open the door.
Once inside the car, when you turn the ignition on the actuator engages another few times
Anybody had this problem or know whats going on?

You might have missplaced the buttons when you reassembled the key
Thanks for tge reply.
Just took the key apart and carefully put back together again - its still doing it

try using it taken apart. I suspect that somehow the plastic is pushing the buttons when you squeeze the key or twist it in the ignition to start it.
Tried that last night, then realised its both keys (its keyless start as well)

Have you tried disconnecting the battery from the car and letting it reset?
I tried that today - no joy, I did realise also today that my o/s/r door does not open...

Does the push to start switch LED flash either amber or green for 15 seconds when you enter the vehicle?
Drivers rear door sorry, below is a link to the video (just uploaded to youtube so hopefully it works) apologies for the poor light

OK. If the PTS LED does not flash. then the smart entry system does not believe that there is a problem. It seems to be isolated to the driver's side door oscillator.
If you approach the passenger side or the hatch, do they unlock properly?
No, neither works. Could it be continuously trying to unlock the rear door? (as it is not opening)

It might be the multiple clicking of the front door that is causing the system to not respond to the other doors. Perhaps the switch on the door handle is internally stuck, so the system is constantly seeing that door as attempting to be opened.
Think its worth stripping the handle down to have a look?

Maybe. It is a bit of a hassle to get to it, but under the rubber square is a small switch. I haven't taken apart the door handle one, but I've taken a hatch one apart.
How about the lock/unlock button on the driver's door?
Does it have the same effect?

try opening the window to the door that isn't unlocking and while touching the handle to unlock the doors, reach in and manually unlock the door that won't open. See if that solves the issue. That'll let you know if it is indeed continuously trying to open that door.
