Help with AUX in 2012 Yaris Sedan

How do I play music from my mp3 player/phone in the 2012 Yaris Sedan? I see the button bythe radio that says Aux/ipod and a port that says ipod. However i dont recognize what kind of port it is. And I dont see an Aux cable port anywhere. So Im not sure how to connect my phone/mp3 player. Can anybody help? Thanks in advance!

You need the Yaris Ipod connectivity kit PT545-00082. Toyota charges over $200 for it, but I see some on ebay for under $50.

Ok does that kit only work with apple products? Or is it compatible with other mp3 players or android devices?

The patch-cord jack is in the glove-box...it's in the frame to the glove-box door, at the top.

You have to get a patch-cord that has an angled-off jack, so you can close it.

It's a much-poorer design than the 2009 which had the jack socket in the console.

The O.P.'s 2012 Sedan is not the same as your 2012 liftback.

The OEM ipod connectivity kit is just for Apple devices (and has the 29 pin connector, so if you have one with the lightening connector you would need to use the adapter).

Can you post a pic of what your headunit looks like? If it is the one I am thinking it is, then your other option is to add an AUX jack (which theoretically the wiring should be present for) which give you a 1/8" headphone jack input, so you can use a male to male cable to connect any device with a headphone jack.

If you have a non-Apple MP3 player, all you need is a cord with 3.5mm stereo connectors. The AUX port is inside the pocket on the right side of the center console.
The goofy IPod connector next to the hand brake carries control signals to the HU, but only from Apple products and using the proprietary adaptor.
