I sat in one at the Houston Auto Show yesterday. It is a tremendous vehicle. If one craves safety, comfort, 'smiles for the planet' re MPG (not to save money at that price point), the additional 'surefootedness' of power to each wheel....and needs that size...it is a logical choice. I sat it the X1 today, and I prefer the X1.

Amazing how many doodads there are . You'd have to take a class to navigate through all the screens . What happened to simplicity ? Call me old fashioned :bonk: .

 You hit the nail on the head....simplicity....a main reason I like the X1. The X1 was the only BMW at the Houston Auto Show that had a manual lever for the tilt/telescopic steering wheel. The others each had a power tilt/telecopic wheel . One more thing to go wrong. What if a couple shared a car and they had a huge size disrepency (my great-grandfather was almost a foot and a half taller than my great-grandmother ) and the power went out for the T & T wheel adjustment and the other spouse needed to drive the vehicle .

When they came out with talk to make the radio work, the windows go up and down etc in 1998 my son made some money setting the cars up for people (like myself!) who didnt have a clue as to how to adjust the mirrors for example.
